Not all "elongated" toilets are created the same. The first toilet riser we purchased locally did not fit our toilet bowl. Found this Elevated Toilet Seat via Google search and we were impressed by the reviews. When it arrived -- it fit perfectly -- and my wife, who is handimanically challenged was able to install it quickly. Since my total knee replacement surgery three weeks ago, I have used the Ableware raised toilet exclusively and really appreciated its sturdiness (I weight 330), comfort, and features. I just might continue using it even after my surgeon releases me to resume all normal activities. I like the added height and it is more pleasant to sit on than my old toilet seat.

My husband needed this product following hip replacement surgery. There were limited choices for an elongated toilet seat and after research this seemed the best and most economical. You have to loosen the bolts on your existing toilet seat to fit this elevated seat. Unfortunately, our bolts were so tightly screwed that I was unable to loosen them on my own. I was, however, able to wriggle the piece that secures the raised seat to the toilet, by pushing it into the existing space. It was not as secure as it should have been (and would have been had I been able to loosen the bolts), but it has worked quite well and my husband has not felt 'unsafe' on it. I wish I had had advice on height prior to ordering. I went for the 4" because this seemed to be standard height. However, my husband is quite tall, 6 ft, and felt the seat to be quite low. He got the hang of it, but for a taller person I would recommend the 6" seat. All in all I was happy with this product and would recommend it.

Doesn't fit well! Verified Purchaser

Cons:
Unsafe.

This seat does not fit my toilet well. That makes it unstable and unsafe to use. When you sit on it the seat goes down like it should but as soon as you move or get up it pops up from the toilet. It's back in the box...I can't use it...can't return it...so I wasted my money!

Very helpful ... fits older toilets. Verified Purchaser

Not all toilet seat risers fit all toilets. This one fits an older toilet at a cousins house. She happens to live out of town, so now I can leave it there and do not have to worry about taking one along when I visit there. Also, the older toilets are so short, that the 6" riser makes it easy for me to get up with my bad knees.

We need to be able to be able to alternate with standard product. My 11 year old son hates it.
