i've never used a transfer bench before but yes a shower chair this is the best of both. im still shy of falling in the tub so a heavy duty mat included is good. it's ready to use out of the box just adjust the legs. i am happy with the chair and the price was good.

I unbolted the extension section and provided it with legs to permit its removal after entering shower. The door can then be closed, a highly desirable feature! The extension is simply put back in place after shower is finished.

Backrest is not adjustable, just one position. All surfaces are hard plastic, NO PADDING rather Disappointing!!
