This is a hard plastic, and workeds well for me. I like the open front area as I have a bidet hose that attaches to my sink so the open area gives me a place to hold the hose so it is inside the toilet. I am overweight (i.e. at the weight limit for the product) and it could probably hold up with someone even heavier than I am.

This toilet seat is great on standard size toilets but not so great
on elongated size toilets. It slides back when you sit on it. An extender
or an adapter would be great. Or a way to bolt it to the toilet bowl would
work good too. Other than that, it's fine and well constructed for sturdiness.
