Prepackaged Bathing: The hygienic and cost effective alternative to soap and water2 now promotes daily skin inspection
Comfort Bath® rinse-free, disposable washcloths have been the hygienic standard since 1996, delivering one-step cleansing and moisturizing to patients. Now, you get even more.
Now all Comfort Bath products feature Skin Check™, a powerful way to promote daily skin inspection and increase communication among caregivers. Comfort Bath with Skin Check provides a simple and low-cost way to help meet the IHI's Five Million Lives Campaign’s recommendation for daily skin inspection.3 Also, starting in October 2008, CMS will no longer pay to treat pressure ulcers that were not documented as present on admission.4 Skin Check means you can target any potential skin breakdown before pressure ulcers develop.
The peel-and-stick Skin Check labels allow the caregiver to indicate which part of the body needs to be checked for potential skin problems. It empowers non-licensed staff to observe and communicate any skin issues to a patient's nurse, helping facilities meet JCAHO's recommendation to "improve the effectiveness of communication among caregivers."5
Skin Check compliments nurses' full assessment and facilitates compliance to reporting protocols. Plus, studies show Skin Check is effective. One recent study shows it can reduce pressure ulcers by 67%!5
Three levels of product means there’s a Comfort Bath that's right for every budget. With over 70% of the market, Comfort Bath products are trusted by more hospitals than all other prepackaged bath products combined.6
Comfort Bath® is the hygienic standard
Comfort Bath’s premoistened washcloths deliver hygienic cleansing in one step. By eliminating contamination risk from basins and tap water during bathing, Comfort Bath also helps facilities comply with CDC infection control guidelines. Now Comfort Bath is helping improve skin monitoring and reporting—while addressing IHI and JCAHO’s initiatives.8,9
Proven Hygienic, Cost-effective
Comfort Bath’s formula contains only USP purified water.10 So you never have to worry about contaminated tap water for bathing. By cleansing body areas separately, these disposable washcloths also minimize cross-contamination. As an AJCC study found, Comfort Bath cleaned effectively—while offering fewer opportunities to recontaminate skin.11 Comfort Bath was also cost competitive, took less time, required fewer products, and was significantly preferred by nurses.11
Promoting Daily Skin Inspection
Since bathing is often performed by non-licensed staff, monitoring skin during bathing is an excellent way to complement full assessment by a registered nurse. Comfort Bath with Skin Check empowers staff to observe and communicate skin issues to the patient’s RN. It helps facilities meet JCAHO’s National Patient Safety Goal of improving communication between different levels of caregivers.9
