The durable plastic won't chip or rust and will last for years. Open front allows for easy access, but can be converted to a closed front with a separate filler piece (included). Filler piece snaps in place for easy installation.

 My son recently had a fall as a result of a toilet seat completely coming off the toilet. He already had a head injury and strokes, but this resulted in a concussion and a sprained wrist. Just how secure is this? I cannot see the snap-on installation...
