Answer:
My husband's small anatomy have made external catheters impractical so I ordered the 25mm size for my husband hoping that it would be snug enough to prevent nighttime leakage. Although the fit is still a bit loose, it excellent for day time wear and I can control leakage at night by wrapping it with strip of surgical tape. It is easy for me and his nurses to remove and replace the tips and keep my husband clean and comfortable

Answer:
You can use the same urine collection bags that are used with foley catheters. They even make small ones that can strap to the patient's leg, for more mobility. Just make sure the tubing doesn't twist, or you can have a leak. The condom can twist like a balloon, and block the flow of urine. You just have to keep an eye on it.

Answer:
Using this external cath and a foley I only use a Freedom/Coloplast bag #5170. Comes with attached ext. tube and straps. Also when using the external cath urinate very slowly or the cath will blow up and break the seal. When putting it on make sure you are clean down there and apply pressure and hold your hand around penis to activate the adhesive.

What are these and how do they work. Can they work with spinal cord injury, with no urine passage?

Answer:
They work similar to a prophylactic condom, that is, they are worn over the penis, like a sheath. However, they are thicker latex and are made to be worn while flaccid (non-erect). Naturally, the condom has a hole in the end to attach to tubing that connect to a standard urine collection bag. They are much more comfortable for long-term needs.
