FloCath® Hydrophilic Intermittent Catheter
Straight Tip - 16" Catheter


The FloCath® Hydrophilic Catheter is a coated intermittent catheter that offers a comfortable and easy-to-use alternative to ordinary intermittent catheters. The hydrophilic coating is designed to reduce friction, allowing effortless insertion into the bladder. Activation of the coating occurs by soaking the catheter in water for 30 seconds. The water binds to the catheter creating an extremely low friction, slippery surface that is maintained during insertion and withdrawal. This results in minimizing insertion forces and tissue irritation while maximizing maneuverability and overall patient comfort. In a user preference test, 5 out of 5 participants chose FloCath® over another leading brand of intermittent catheters.

I like this catheter, but still use lubricant, even though it is not necessary. It caused less friction on insertion than the standard intermittent catheters I have used in the past. The only downside is that there are no other lengths offered, so I cannot carry it in my purse.

I haven't tried other products so can't compare these. However, I have found the quality of this product to be consistent and I believe they are quite well made. Self catheterization isn't the easiest thing in the world to get used to, but I found the procedure relatively easy using this product.
