Cardinal Health Saline Flush - 10 mL prefilled in 10 mL syringe

Saline Flush
10 mL Saline in a 10 mL Syringe

Single use saline flush syringes contain 0.9% sodium chloride, USP saline per milliliter sterile water. They are prefilled to help reduce medication errors and contamination risks associated with multidose vials. Needle-free design eliminates the potential for needle-stick injuries while the easy-to-read, color-coded labels with NDC number bar-coded symbology helps caregivers to quickly identify the dose/solution type.

Features of 10 ml Saline Flush:

  • 10 mL Syringe
  • All Syrex products are terminally sterilized
  • Unit dose packaging - Ready to use
  • Needle free design
  • Resource effective - Staff focus on patient care - not syringe filling
  • Latex free
  • Includes white cap

Safety and Reliability

  • Single-use prefilled syringes help reduce medication errors and contamination risks associated with multi-dose vials
  • Easy-to-read labels with NDC number barcoded symbology help caregivers quickly identify dose/solution type
  • Needle-free design, eliminating potential for any needlestick injuries

Quality

  • Terminally sterilized with a sterile fluid path
  • Up to 2-year shelf life
  • Not made with natural rubber latex
  • Preservative free

Convenience

  • Ready-to-use, prefilled and preassembled; no additional components to buy
  • Barcoded with NDC number symbology for bedside scanning/inventory management

Why prefilled flush syringes?

  • Patient Safety. Healthcare entities such as JCAHO and ISMP focus on the reduction of medication errors related to non-labeled or mislabeled products.
  • Infection Control. Studies show virtually 0% contamination rate for prefilled flush syringes manufactured by companies that utilize terminal sterilization.1, 2, 3
  • Cost Reduction. Prefilled syringes are less expensive than manually prepared syringes when all factors are included into the cost.

Safe and effective.

  • Color-coded white tip and label for easy visual identification
  • Individually bar coded for bedside scanning or inventory management
  • Unique cylinder design helps to minimize reflux
  • Large graduations help caregivers quickly identify the dose size.
  • Smooth plunger action for greater control

Why now?

  • Contaminated syringes have been shown to cause
  • Catheter-Related Bloodstream Infections (CR-BSI).6, 7
  • CR-BSI is the most life-threatening of all healthcare-acquired infections, estimated to cost the healthcare system more than $2 billion annually.
  • Since 2008, legislation has required hospitals—not Medicare—to cover the costs associated with hospital-acquired conditions that could reasonably have been prevented. Conditions subject to this provision include catheter-associated bloodstream infections.

Why prefilled flush syringes from Cardinal Health?

  • Our saline flush syringes are terminally sterilized.
  • Syringes are specifically designed to minimize the amount of syringe generated reflux, thereby reducing the potential for catheter occlusion formation.
  • A prominent syringe label emphasizes all relevant information to help promote proper flush administration and reduce medication error.
