Freedom away from the restroom

Pros:
Safe. Lightweight. comfortable.
Cons:
Difficult to remove.
Best Uses:
Frequent urination.
Describe Yourself:
Average Health.

I love to walk but recently was unable to go for very long without having an accident or being in pain. The external catheter allows me the freedom to go for a walk and stay as long as I like. The only downside is that the self-adhesive makes them are a little difficult to remove.

Super Glue

Pros:
Safe. Sturdy. Lightweight.
Cons:
Glue too strong.
Best Uses:
Any.
Describe Yourself:
Average Health.

Thin, very reliable, but the glue is like Super Glue. Took soaking in a bathtub with soapy warm water over ten minutes to remove, and left Mr. P sticky with adhesive residue for two days. Had to revert to paper products temporarily rather than stick something else onto the glue residue. I would not try this one again. If not for that would be 5 stars.

Answer:
I can only answer for an uncircumcised man. Grip your penis with your left palm and put the head of your penis in as far as you can into the catheter. Roll the catheter back over the foreskin and allow the adhesive to grip as far back on the foreskin as possible. This prevents the catheter from sealing itself shut if it goes forward off of your penis.

Question:
I've used a similar product, where the sheath was coated with adhesive. The problem-an erection would prove excruciating, as it feels as though the skin is surely going to tear. Does this (or any similar) product allow for... expansion?

Answer:
2.1.4 Measuring In order to find the appropriate size for a male external catheter, the circumference of the penis needs to be measured. The penis should be measured at the shaft where its diameter is largest in order to assess the correct size (42). For measuring, the patient should be seated on the edge of a bed or chair with the legs slightly spread. In this free position both scrotum and penis are in their natural anatomic orientation and can best be measured. The actual male external catheter size of the penis may be hard to determine if it ranges between two sizes. Should this situation occur, the smaller size of the two should be selected. Male external catheter materials are sufficiently flexible and allow the penis a snug but not tight fit. Choosing the larger of two sizes might result in urinary leakage. Many manufacturers and suppliers of male external catheters offer sizing guides (for example cardboard molds or patterns), to help determine the size that will ensure safe and comfortable wear (33,35). It is important to note that manufacture sizes may vary, and sizing guides provided by one manufacturer should not be used for another.

The sizes are in mm's. Ask your father in law for a best guess then purchase three or four in that size and both smaller and larger.

Answer:
Most of the time I use a leg bag strapped to my lower leg and plastic tubing to make the connection. You can purchase separate straps that can be used to secure the plastic tubing and help keep it from getting tangled. These also make the catheter feel more secure because it holds the weight of the tubing and keeps it from pulling on the catheter.

Answer:
I use the Bard Dispoz-a-bag #150419 for everyday use. It's he bonus pack(4 19oz bags with flip-flo valve). Also, Bard "wide leg straps". And, CareBag legbag holder. (It helps support the bag and keeps the plastic bag off of the skin. Tubing. (#6009 Urocare tubing connectors are better than the connectors that come with the tubing). Urocare has sport bags when you wear shorts but are very expensive.
