Product Overview

Millennial Medical Millennial Crutch In-Motion Pro - Ergonomic Folding Crutches

Millennial Crutch - Folding Crutches

The improved Millennial Crutch In-Motion Pro has been designed from the ground up to address the problems associated with traditional crutch use. Working together as a functional unit, the features of the Millennial Crutch provide for a comfortable experience while on crutches. The features include the large Underarm Cradle, an Ergonomic Grip, a very popular Folding Design and a Shock Absorbing/Power Assist feature. The NEW bracketed handle is designed to surround the body of the crutch and properly displace weight. The inner tubing is reinforced with a grade 6061 aircraft aluminum inner sleeve designed to support the displaced weight from the handle. The Extended Range of the Crutch also fits a larger range of heights than a traditional crutch.

Millennial Crutch

Underarm Cradle:

This unique feature provides for a better sense of stability in use. The cradle feature allows for greater position confidence while in the walking motion. As the walking movement proceeds, the front position of the under arm cradle gives the user forward arm and shoulder support. Consequently there is less reliance on the direct underarm, reducing pressure. Since the user relies less on the underarm support, there is a reduction in back and shoulder stress.

  • Larger area enhances sense of walking stability.
  • Reduces underarm fatigue and soreness.
  • More comfortable and easy to use.
Ergonomic Grip:

The ergonomic grip on the Millennial Crutch is at an angle of 12°, designed to provide the greatest amount of blood flow and reduced trauma to the nervous system. The grip also features a soft sculptured foam handle for comfortable palm support.

  • Designed for repetitive and vigorous use.
  • Allows proper blood flow and nerve conduction.
  • Reduces carpal tunnel syndrome and wrist tendinitis.
Folding Design:

Traditional crutches are awkward to use in crowded settings like in a car, on an airplane, sitting in an audience, or at a restaurant. The collapsible push pin folding design feature of the Millennial Crutch makes using it in public places much more convenient. It simply folds for easy storage.

  • Convenient to fold and store.
  • Easy to carry and take anywhere.
Shock Absorber / Power Assist:

The patented shock-absorbing/power assist feature of the Millennial Crutch increases comfort by reducing stress, fatigue and soreness. The tension of the shock absorber allows the necessary cushion in each step, but is firm enough to provide a feeling of security and stability. The tip absorbs the impact energy then returns that captured energy positively, helping the patient move forward. This reduces back, shoulder, elbow, arm and wrist pain.

Some issues, but an improved crutch

Pros:
Well Constructed. Supports Weight. Ergonomic.
Cons:
Heavy. Difficult to prop. Hand can slip if moist. Lack cushioning.
Best Uses:
Short Distances. Wet Weather. Outdoors. Indoors.
Describe Yourself:
Short Term User.

I bought these crutches because I developed a cyst in my wrist a few weeks before foot surgery where I knew I would be non-weight-bearing for 2 weeks. These crutches did not bother my wrist at all and clearly place my hand and entire body in a much better position for using crutches. It is nice that they fold, though I haven't used this feature often as it takes several minutes for me to fold and unfold the crutches and is thus not that practical. In general, they are solid and well-constructed, and I feel very confident that I will not slip on wet terrain. However, these crutches have some drawbacks. First, they are about twice as heavy as standard aluminum crutches. This is not a problem for short distances, but I found I got more tired using these than standard crutches because of the weight. The spring action at the foot does help alleviate this somewhat, but I wish they made these out of a lighter material. Second, they are much harder to prop and tend to fall over easily if you stand them up against something. It's a minor thing, but really annoying. Third, your hands have to be dry and free of any kind of lotion to use them, and if your hands start to sweat, they slip. The grip itself, while alleviating hand pain because of superior positioning, is also very hard and cannot be cushioned with extra padding or your hand slips. Fourth, the crutches can only be oriented one way, which gets easier to determine with practice, but it's really annoying when you get up at 3AM needing to pee. Finally, because of the nature of the crutches, it is harder to hold something else while crutching- the grip is pretty unforgiving. You cannot add pockets and bags designed for standard crutches to help carry small objects, which is a real issue for women because women's clothes tend to be devoid of pockets. Most of these criticisms are fairly minor, and I really hope the company designs some crutches that are lighter weight and better padded in the hands (preferably in a manner that allows you to use lotion without fearing for a crutch-related accident). I have these crutches and a pair of standard aluminum crutches outfitted with extra padding, and I tend to back to these crutches despite the pain. These crutches, despite their minor faults, are still less awkward to use. I just hope my hands hurt less over the next week.

Best designed crutch on the market!

Pros:
Spring assist feet. Spring assist feet.. Easy To Use. Supports Weight. Well Constructed. Safe. Lightweight. Stores Easily.
Best Uses:
Short Distances. Long Distances. Outdoors. Indoors. Wet Weather.
Describe Yourself:
Short Term User. Multiple Use User.

I like every intensely engineered feature, with one exception. The foam used for the 'under the arm' portion could use a thicker foam padding. Perhaps double the amount of padding. I could see paying an extra $10 to $15 more for this upgrade.

I injured my knee- and on top of that already have arthritis in both knees. I am hoping this use of crutches is temporary. I am a first time crutch user- and only using the left crutch at this time- I find the ergonomic aspects of the crutch make it very comfortable- especially on my wrists. The crutches are light weight and well made.

I've relied on the Pro for about 15 months while recovering from several foot surgeries. This is my second pair of the Pro model. The first pair were an earlier version whose ill-constructed handles failed to such a degree that each crutch was rendered unusable. A phone message to the manufacturer was not returned, and I went elsewhere to order $20 replacement handles that, because of the design defect, couldn't be used. Nonetheless I ordered a replacement pair of crutches because I read that a slight redesign had resolved the handle issue. The first set featured softer, more comfortable handles. This set has significantly harder handles and it took me a day or two to become accustomed. I'll take that trade-off, however, because the earlier loosening issue -- which was aggravating and dangerous -- appears to have been successfully addressed. This set is causing pain as a result of rubbing against the torso. That wasn't a problem the first time around. For patients sensitive to pain or pressure, these two issues may be insurmountable. For those who can put up with these drawbacks, I believe that any use-related soreness will dissipate and you'll be pleased with the purchase.

I used these crutches after my pelvic reconstruction. Loved them, even though they did hurt my side/underarms a bit at first.

Answer:
For the 5'6" and under size, the crutches are basically in three parts. One third, the bottom part, is snapped on, and the other 2/3 folds in half. So unassembled, the size is approximately 21"L x 11"W x 3" deep. I had the same question before I purchased them.
