Describe Yourself:
Long Term User.

I have used this type of crutch since I was 3, and I'm 58, so a lot of experience. When I was a kid they made these out of solid metal: very durable but heavy, and long gone. Then wooden: the wooden crutches had the same vulnerability problem that these new hollow-metal ones have: the top arm rest, that goes under your armpit. With the wooden ones the top piece would work its way loose and pinch your arms (or break off if the dowel broke). With these -- and I've tried at least a dozen pairs -- the top piece is made of plastic which cracks. You need to be careful not to impact the plastic top piece. If it gets stepped on, or caught in a door, or simply falls to the ground, it can crack and then, when you use the crutch, the stress will have it break altgoether and then you are stuck. The price is good, though, so I just buy a lot pairs and then figure to throw them away when the top piece cracks. It seems like a great environemntal waste, though, and i wish the crutch manufactruer would correct this flaw.
