No longer out of my reach!! Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Easy Storage. Lightweight.

Nothing can hide under the beds or furniture any longer!! Following knee surgery, I couldn't kneel, even picking up a tissure was a problem. Now it is a fixture in the house, don't know what I would have done without it.

Low cost Light n Sturdy

Pros:
Sturdy. Easy Storage. Lightweight.

From time to time, I have flair ups from old injuries and have a hard time picking things up from the floor. I was awear of reachers, But the price, durability n length was always a factor. " So I never bought one. The price, matirial it was made of, n avalible length 32". prompted me to order one. I ordered the 26" modle, But did not realized it until a few days later. The item was already shipped. I could of sent it back, But I decided to give it to my mother, As a Mother's day present. I check it out after it arrived, It was light n looked kinda flimilsy. I reached for things from scratch papper to tools and dragged a 5lb papper box accross the floor. Quite sturdy, I would say. My Mother was quite hapy afther recieving it. She just a plastic one she bought. I was out n about with her the other day. While we were out parked in the car. She pulled out the reacher to grap a note pad in the back seat, She had fumble trough few things to find it wich she did comfertablely. I'll be ordering the 32" one on my next order

Poorly Constructed Products Don't Help

Cons:
Unsafe. Flimsy.
Best Uses:
None.
Describe Yourself:
Mobility Impaired.

This product bent, and did not hang on anything, as a previous user stated. To imply it has a magnet is erroneous, without stating it might pick up a paperclip.

Pros:
Sturdy. Safe. Excellent usable features. Lightweight. Easy Storage.
Best Uses:
Elderly. Pick-up aide. Reaching aide. Emergency. Following Surgery.
Describe Yourself:
Elderly. Physically Disabled.

This Aluminum Reacher with Magnetic Tip by DMI (Extra Hand)was issued to me in 2001 by physical theraphy after back surgery. I am disabled and unable to bend, stoop down or stretch reaching up to retrive objects. I can pick up a dime from the floor or reach the top shelf at the store from my wheel chair. I am able to walk short distances and I have attached my extra hand to my cane with velcro. It takes practice picking up small things like a dime, but it can be done. The magnet is a help picking up screws, nails and paper clips. The top spar (screw on top) allows me to pull open drawers that are too low for me to reach. The best feature is the curved grabber with the non-slip rubber pad. This allows me to pick up objects of different sizes and weights. One must use common sense when trying to lift objects. I have picked up an eight-pound bag of cat litter without an problem, although I would not advise picking more weight, since I am not physically able to lift more. As hard as it is, I have picked up a two liter bottle soft drink.

A great Verified Reviewer

Pros:
Lightweight.
Best Uses:
Following Surgery.
Describe Yourself:
Average Health.

Following major leg surgury, every move I made was extremely painful. I used the reacher as my helper to "hand" me the things I needed, so that I didn't have to rely on anyone to get them for me. As I recovered I ordered several more and find them to be handy by my bedside, in my closet, the ktchen and near my desk. Actually, all over the house. They are not meant to be sturdy, safe or hangable. They are meant to "reach" for you, and that is what they do. It is up to you to use them carefully when picking up something a little heavier or overhead. Be sensible in their use and reap the benefits. I think it is a great item.

So disappointed! Verified Reviewer

Pros:
Easy Storage.
Cons:
Flimsy.
Best Uses:
Very lightweight grabbing.
Describe Yourself:
Retired.

I was excited when I saw this reacher on sale for [$]. This certainly proved the adage,"You get what you pay for." The opening of the 26" reacher was so small and flimsy, it would not grasp or pick up a lightweight glass. It did pick up a dish towel. The magnetic tip picked up a paper clip but not a metal pen.

I love this product. It helps me retrieve things I cant reach, i.e. cups in the kitchen cabinet, etc., and it also is a big help to pick up things I drop and can't get down to pick-up myself! Once you have one, you find 1,000 uses for it!
