Featherweight Reachers
26" and 32" Lengths

Featherweight Reachers make grasping out-of-reach objects easier. Made of aluminum, this reacher is both lightweight and durable. The Featherweight® Reacher features highly visible Grip-Cert jaw that provides secure slip resistant grip and opens to 3 inches wide plus a magnetic tip for picking up small metal objects. Another standard feature of the Featherweight ® Reacher is a clip for storing the reacher on a walker, wheelchair or bedside rail. The pistol grip style of the handle fits comfortably in hand and is easy to grasp.

Choose this reacher

Pros:
Safe.
Best Uses:
Elderly. Following Surgery.
Describe Yourself:
Medical Professional.

I am an occupational therapist who teaches patients how to use a reacher to assist in dressing and retrieving items from the floor and cabinets. I would recommend this type of reacher above other types as it holds up better and has a prong at the end to assist in taking off socks. Do know that with prolonged/heavy use, it may wear down and break... so think about purchasing two.

I have a new puppy. These come in really good to pick up the paper that she chews. Or pick up anything. This one is not much more expensive than the ones on TV. The ones on TV break really quick. The screws that hold the pieces that you put the most stress on; picking stuff up; are screwed into plastic and it breaks. I have several broken ones and it is the plastic that the screw, screws into that breaks. That will not happen with these. My mother brought one of these home after rehab. After passing, I fell in love with it. Just picking up the house. It lasted a very long time, before I lost the screw. It still works without it, but searched the internet for the brand and found them here. What a great price, and they will last a life time.

Very Poor Quality. Not Very Durable. Verified Purchaser

Cons:
Flimsy. Cord not wire mechanism.
Best Uses:
Picking up dropped items.
Describe Yourself:
Rheumatoid Arthritis.

This reacher lacks the durability and stability of reachers with a wire mechanism. I also purchased a Retianer Reacher of the same brand which broke upon first use. I returned both reachers for a refund.

The clip feature was a great idea, however the clip isn't long enough for a walker and falls off easily causing it to be a fall risk. Perhaps the clip could be longer or have multiple clips. The reacher from another manufacturer had a hook to attach to a pocket or waistband, a handy feature for someone who can't bend over if the reacher falls to the ground. The packaging by Allegro Medical was very poor. The 1st reacher I ordered was damaged in transit, I understand why this happened. The reacher was wrapped in light weight rolled material, easily bent and broken.[...]
