Hy-Tek Big Button Universal Remote Control

Universal Remote by Hy-Tek

With the Tek-Partner Big Button Universal Remote Control, there's no need to get your reading glasses out to find the button your looking for. This Remote is perfect for those with low vision. It has huge brightly lit buttons with big readable characters. At 5 1/2" wide and 8 1/2" long, you won't be losing this remote!

The largest, most useful, most visible universal remote available today. With the Tek Partner pre-programmed infrared system, it can be used with TV's, VCR's and cable boxes and is designed to be hand held, set on a table or a chair - but never to be lost. Measures 5.5" wide by 8.5" long by 2.5" high and weighs only 12 oz. The keys are a large .75" with large black numbers. At the touch of a button, they light up for you to see the letters and numbers. Uses 4 "AA" batteries (NI).

Tek-Partner is very easy to program. With a few button pushes you

Does not replace all remotes Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Large buttons.
Cons:
Hard to program.
Best Uses:
Elderly. Visually impaired.
Describe Yourself:
Caregiver.

[...] As for the remote, it does work but it does not get around the complex problem of the TV/cable box connection. The remote can turn the TV off but cannot turn the TV power back on. So one has to leave the TV on and turn the cable box off. To turn the TV back on one has to use the separate TV remote. In other words it does not completely replace other remotes, but it is an improvement.

I have only one button that turns on and off the TV set and the cable together. I can easily find mute, the channel up and down buttons, and the volume controls.

I find the remote very easy to program - a boon for the elderly. It is somewhat heavy and you have to really press down on the up and down arrows to make it change channels. Other than that, it works well.

I got this product for my Uncle who has bad vision and had problems with small remotes. Right out of the box after I set it up he had very little problems with it. The switches are little hard to push but after getting use to them no problems. The only change that I would due to improve it, I would put some kind of material so that the remote will not slide off the sofa.

Great Product Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Sturdy.
Best Uses:
Elderly.

I purchased this for my 98-year-old aunt whose vision is poor. I programmed it for her following the instructions provided. It has made controlling the TV easier for her because it is simple and has keys that are large enough to see and spaced far enough apart so that she can press one key without accidently pressing more than one at the same time. Definitely worth the money!

This is a great product. I had one for twenty years and it finally broke down. Because of its size, it is hard to lose. It is very easy to use also.

Does not work well Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Sturdy.
Cons:
Bulky.
Best Uses:
Elderly.
Describe Yourself:

Easy to program but also easy to lose the programing. Changinh channels or any other action requires you to press the button twice, at least the one I have does. Very confusing to use, and the signal to the components are very slow in reaction.
