StandEast Standing Aid - I do recommend

It arrived quickly and was packaged well. Easy to set up. The only thing I found to be even remotely an issue is that when I placed it around the right-most cushion where my dad sits, the right arm is kind of in the way. He has the couch arm to use to help raise himself, but the left arm of the StandEase DOES help him get up. So I solved the issue but placing the StandEase around the couch cushion to the left. That way, he is not sitting between two metal rods, BUT still has the metal arm, now on his left, to help him stand, while also using the couch arm on the right, which is the same height as the StandEast arm. All-in-all, I highly recommend this for anyone needing assistance to raise oneself from the couch/sofa.

Answer:
No I would not recommend this item be used for a bed. It was not sturdy enough to be used with the sofa. It is fragile and weak, not strong at all. Will not hold a person with weight.

Question:
How is the standing aid attached to a couch or chair without arms? What keeps it from slipping?

Answer:
It doesn't actually attach; rather, the rear crossbar rests behind the sofa seat cushion. With an armless chair, the rear crossbar rests at the back of the chair seat, normally up against the back of the chair. We found the device was only useful on an overstuffed chair/sofa; even then, it was somewhat wobbly.
