Product Overview

Mobility Transfer SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk

SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk

SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk for an individual with impaired mobility from paralysis or limited upper body functions can use the SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk (SST Pivot Disk) unassisted in a very efficient way. If the patient cannot use his/her upper extremities a helper will be needed.

When to use the SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk

The SST Pivot Disk is designed for use by patients who are able to stand but cannot readily move their legs. For maximum support and safety for both the patient and the helper, we recommend that either a SST Belt or a SST Sling be used in conjunction with the SST Pivot Disc.

Placement of the SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk

The SST Pivot Disk is placed on the floor with the label facing downwards. The patient's feet are to be positioned completely on the disk to facilitate a smooth transfer and reduce back strain on both patient and helper. The handle of the SST Pivot Disk should be placed facing the patient, to prevent interfering with the feet of the helper. The helper should place one of his/her feet on the disk to safely monitor and control the transfer. After using the SST Pivot Disk, it should immediately be removed from the floor to avoid accidents.

Advantages of the Transfer Pivot Disk

Because of the lightweight and convenient grip handle, the SST Pivot Disk is easy to use and carry. The SST Pivot Disk is made of three high quality polymer plates, one turning on top of the other. The SST Pivot Disk is also equipped with anti-glide tapes on both sides to prevent slipping on the floor or when a patient is standing on the SST Pivot Disk.

SafetySure Transfer Pivot Disk Primary Uses:

  • Transfer Between a chair and a wheelchair
  • Transfers between a wheelchair and a toilet
  • Transfer between a chair or wheelchair and a bed

Transfer Between a chair and a wheelchair

The disk is "locked" in place when the helper places his/her heel comfortably on the floor and the rest of his/her foot firmly on the plate between the feet of the patient (fig.2). The patient wears a SST Belt and the helper holds on to the handles while guiding the patient through the transfer.

Transfers between a wheelchair and a toilet

Proper use of the SST Pivot Disk in this situation is identical to above, except it is safer and easier with two helpers, each wearing a SST Belt. As pictured in the illustration, the helper(s) can use the other, free hand(s) to help undress the patient before placing him/her on the toilet (fig. 1)

Transfer Between a bed and wheelchair

Before you move a patient from a bed to a wheelchair, you should make sure that the wheelchair is positioned as close to the bed as possible, with the wheels locked. (For better control and safety, always have the patient wear a SST Belt (fig. 2).

It is helpful

Pros:
Easy Storage. Safe. Lightweight.
Best Uses:
Elderly.
Describe Yourself:
Caregiver.

Great product, safe and easy to use, need to be careful to avoid sliding, but once you learned to control, it is of big help. Non slide shoes help to stand on it. Also pay attention when operating it on slippery floors.

Not for Ceramic Tile Floors Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Easy Storage. Sturdy.
Cons:
Unsafe. Heavy.
Describe Yourself:
MS Patient.

I had high hopes for this transfer disc, but it is of no use on a smooth, slick surface like the ceramic tile in my bathroom. It slides all over making it useless unless you have a helper there to keep it from sliding.
