Not as

Pros:
Sturdy.
Describe Yourself:
cannot walk.

This is used in the laundry room to hang the clothes up. It is very hard to lift it and the clothing after I have done several loads of laundry. Could be even lighter , if possible.

So Useful and Unusual, I give as Gifts

Pros:
Sturdy. Safe. Easy Storage. Lightweight.
Best Uses:
Elderly. Following Surgery. Emergency.
Describe Yourself:
Elderly. Poor Health.

When my stroke-driven limitations decide to impose a brutal day, this device is my only means of reaching essential items, such as medications or clothing. It becomes my only functioning arm! If I am enjoying a mobile day, I have one mounted on my walker. It does my bending and reaching for me. It is also called upon on occasion to clear a path!

reaching out

Pros:
Sturdy. Lightweight. versatile.
Cons:
no point on tip to hook .
Best Uses:
wheel chair bound.
Describe Yourself:
cannot walk.

I have a reacher that has a point sticking out of the top at the end. Sometimes it was easier to hook a strap rather than have a heavier item pulling down on the lower jaw of the reacher. I like the way the jaw fits into the slot. My old reacher would twist to the side of the reacher while grabbing thin items like a composition book. This was a good purchase for me.

Reach Out and Pick Up

Pros:
Sturdy. Safe. Lightweight. Easy Storage.
Best Uses:
Elderly. Following Surgery. Emergency.
Describe Yourself:
Elderly. Poor Health.

Drop item - pick it up. Reach item just out of arm length - useful. Need to put item in a place - use it to position, put away in its place. Sometimes I wish it were shorter or longer but then I noticed one can buy various lengths.

Yes, it can lift cans. I have bought several of these over the years (I use very often) and have been very happy with them.

Answer:
Works great for lifting Have had no problems lifting anything it will fit around. Only problem the 24" model hook will not stay tight. Used JB weld to fix the problem. It did not have a backing for the screw only went into the alu. frame

Answer:
While the reacher in question should be able lift a 16 ounce can, it is not perfect. Within a short time, the magnet at the tip fell out and was lost. A more troubling fault was that that trying to pick up something heavy, such as a bag, results results in the articulated griping arm slipping past the aluminum reacher, thus loosing grip, followed by the plastic gripper becoming stuck next to the shaft. Nevertheless, this tool is a must have, especially for the disabled!

Answer:
I can pick up the dogs dish to feed him. Just about anything I drop can be picked up. I love using it to pull out the clothes from the dryer that always seem to be in the back. I have 3 reachers now and hope to buy another when I have my hip replacement. One for each room!
