I am a licensed nurse and use these thermometers at the nursing home where I work. We have had them for over 6 months and they are in my opinion very inaccurate. The readings are consistently low. Usually between 94.1-96.7 and in six months no one has had a fever. That cannot be correct, before these we had the much cheaper Brauns and those seemed to work much more accurately. With the Brauns we were also catching fevers about once a week with different residents. With those we never got readings lower than 96.7 unless someone was dying. I know many factors can cause the low readings such as ear wax, etc. But then why were the readings much higher with the Braun? We are not doing anything different. I think these are overpriced pieces of junk. Now I am going to have to buy my own thermometer just to get accurate readings on my shift, I can't stand using the Genius 2. I mean, Literally I can feel that someone has a fever and the stupid thing will say their temp is 98.0. And that's about the highest reading we ever get. So now when I see a reading of 98.0, I assume they have a fever. It's lame.
