Baps Board - Biomechanical Ankle Platform

BAPS, the Biomechanical Ankle Platform System, is the Standard in lower limb conditioning and rehabilitation. It safely mimics multi-joint, multi-plane function. Anatomically correct motion assures enhanced functional outcomes.

The BAPS is scientifically designed to allow only anatomically proportionate motion. Therefore, it will not overstress some components while under-stressing others.

BAPS

What is BAPS?

The Biomechanical Ankle Platform System (BAPS) provides clinical control over all planes of motion, progressive strengthening and variable stress with the foot in ground contact.

It is based on clinical and functional analysis of the anatomy, kinesiology, neurology and biomechanics of the foot, ankle and lower leg. It has been proven effective in over five years of clinical testing for virtually all programs of prevention, conditioning and rehabilitation of the ankle and lower extremities.

Now, with BAPS, there is a way to comprehensively prepare ankles for the various stresses of daily activities or to rehabilitate them when these stresses take their toll.
BAPS Components

How The Baps Board Works

The BAPS system consists of a reversible platform, five hemispherical attachments, weight rods and weights and a storage rack. When the foot is placed on the platform as designated, and as the platform rotates around, BAPS recreates a proportionate and progressive degree of abduction or adduction of the foot and ankle, proportional amounts of dorsiflexion, plantar flexion, inversion and eversion along with axes of motion. The combination of all motions reproduced with the platform provides an exact amount of pronation and supination with the foot in ground contact.

BAPS enables the development of conditioning or rehabilitation programs for individuals at any level of activity by allowing for control of non-weight-bearing, partial-, full- or overloaded-weight-bearing exercise to the ankle and lower extremities with the foot in ground contact for concurrent proprioceptive rehabilitation. The system provides calibrated resistance, assistance and platform loading for strengthening specific areas of the ankle and lower extremities. It offers progression of levels of mobility through a series of five calibrated hemispherical attachments providing controlled amounts of rotational force to the ankle and lower extremities.

When Recommended or Prescribed by a Health Care Professional...

BAPS can be used in rehabilitation of the ankle and lower extremities for post-acute injury, strains and microtraumas caused by chronic overuse and in post-operative and post-immobilization situations.

In sports environments, BAPS system is an ideal and cost-effective solution for training, conditioning, injury prevention and participation screening.

Greate product

I've used the BAPS at a physical therapy office to rehab my ankle after spraining it and it worked great in strengthing it. It has several sized hemispheres so that you increase the intensity of the ecersice. It strengthened my ankles to the point where I can resist turning the ankle enough to be able to offload my weight on that foot before the ankle turns over. If you have weak ankles or are prone to straining them I would recommend trying out the BAPS. It worked great for me.
