Product Overview
Spectrum DISC - Dynamic Integrated Stabilization Chair
The Dynamic Integrated Stabilization Chair (DISC) is the new Standard in spine and trunk dynamic stabilization programs. The DISC offers the same safety and clinical control as the BAPS. "Isolated integration" assures enhanced functional outcomes.
What is DISC?
The Dynamic Integrated Stabilization Chair (DISC) provides a safe, secure environment in which to exercise. Patients improve at their own pace, gaining confidence even as they improve their own functional stability. Like the BAPS, the DISC addresses range of motion, strength and proprioception in all three planes of motion because the DISC keeps the trunk relatively isolated from the lower extremities. All components that contribute to functional stability are integrated as a single complex unit. How DISC Works
The heart of the DISC system is the high-impact base which comes with BAPS #1, #2 and #3 pivot balls. Simply screw in the selected pivot ball to determine the appropriate range of motion. Even with the largest pivot ball installed, the DISC cannot tip over. The seat is contoured for comfort. It adjusts from 9-1/4 inches to 14-1/2 inches to fit the needs of most patients. A sturdy backrest is also included to provide support and extend the range of viable exercises. When Recommended or Prescribed by a Health Care Professional...
The DISC is appropriate for a broad range of patient populations and indications. Because this exercise is done in a joint loaded position relative to the spine, proprioceptive rehabilitation is accomplished along with strength and range of motion. Besides the direct applications for neuro deficits, disc, pelvic/SI, abdominal and shoulder problems, there is even benefit for gait dysfunction patients when the deficit is at the hips in the frontal plane.
Simply put, the DISC system allows individuals to exercise, strengthen, mobilize and stabilize the dynamic integrated trunk while in a safe, seated position. The DISC system is designed for most adult, orthopaedic, neurologic and sports medicine applications.
