I use sport exercise balls in lieu of a weight bench and also for balancing on my knees to improve core strength and balance. The firmer ball is excellent for knee balancing because the firmness, when fully inflated, increases the difficulty of the exercise. One can always deflate the firm ball to make balancing exercises easier, but one should absolutely never over-inflate the less firm balls. Ergo, versatility!
