Worked will for my elderly mother

Pros:
Thick. Durable. Stays in Place. Comfortable. Lightweight.
Best Uses:
Comfort. Elderly.
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper.

Bought this for my 96 year old mother who developed a small bed sore (is in a wheelchair during the day) and was not comfortable on an inflatable air matress. This seems to be comfortable for her, is a good thickness that does not mat down and has, so far, prevented any more pressure sores from forming. Happy with my purchase.

No matter if you call the mattress egg crate or convoluted foam, this mattress is exactly what is needed for people who may be at risk for pressure sores. Air circulates around the foam points providing comfort and care. No other type of mattress has this feature.

Question:
Hi, I am having really bad back pain on my mattress and cant afford a new one anytime soon, I have been looking around for a quick fix...haha. I know I want something foam but worry about flammability. Your mattress description states that it is "plant based". What is the flammability of that...or more importantly is it safer then other foam mattress pads? Thanks!

Answer:
I have no idea on the flammability. Do you smoke on your bed? If you don't I doubt it's going to be an issue. These are like your egg crate, except they are 4 inches (unlike the 1 inch you can get at the store) and they have deeper spikes ( the crate part). I have found them sooooo beneficial to my back. I have them on my bed, purchased them for when I visit my parents, take mine on vacation, and purchased one for my mother who was dx with terminal cancer. HTH

Answer:
Oh and I would not use the dryer. AFter you have washed it..squeeze as much water out of it as you can, and then just air dry. I'd think you'd risk burning it in the dyer, as it wouldn't move around well.

Answer:
No, you cannot wash an egg crate mattress. When I used them for my mom (now using a different mattress overlay), I always had to buy spares.

Answer:
I purchased 2 of this item in 4" for my dog's orthopedic doggie bed. It washes up perfectly and needs to air dry. I cut both of the pads to fit the doggie bed and had 2 slightly smaller pads left, so I threw an old blanket over the remaining smaller pieces and made 2 smaller dog beds. This item was very easy to cut to size. It is PERFECT for the doggie bed, in fact, better than the original piece of foam that came with the doggie bed!!!!!

Answer:
If you have a really large washing machine, I'm guessing you could get the twin size in, and hopefully not destroy it. When we have had to wash ours (thanks kids!) we have done it in the tub, and even just hosed it off once. Since it's kinda like a sponge..you spray water on it..and squeeze it back out. They have cleaned up just fine that way.

Question:
What exactly is the environmentally-friendly egg crate mattress made of? I've been told to find something that is "medical grade medium density urethane foam with an open cell structure and no plastics". Can you tell me how closely your product meets this specification? Thank you.
