Casting is often used to rest the ligaments until recovery takes place. Casting can be cumbersome for both the caster and the patient.Comfort and protection after an injury. The standard D-ring model is recommended where maximum joint support and motion restriction are important. Use it in sports or work where impact and stretching are expected. Cinching the D-ring closure abducts the thumb so motion at the CMC joint is restricted even more effectively.The low-profile closure. This is exactly the same shell as the standard ThumbKeeper. An overlap-type palm closure replaces the D-ring closure. Those with arthritic hand involvement may find it difficult to manage the D-ring strap. The overlap palmar strap closure is easier. This design ensures MP joint extension, reducing pain and instability that can occur when arthritis affects the sensitive joint.
