Product Overview

Eakin Cohesive Seals

Eakin Cohesive Seal

The Eakin Cohesive Seal is a donut-shape ostomy accessory that can be molded to a variety of shapes. It acts as a gasket or barrier, and provides enhanced protection for hard-to-fit stomas. The unique moldable hydrocolloid barrier forms a gel that helps prevent skin damage by sealing the area between the skin and ostomy appliance. Helps prevent leakage around the stoma by acting as filler for uneven skin surfaces.

Very Good

Pros:
Very sticky, . Easy Storage. Lightweight.
Cons:
Allergy.
Best Uses:
Ileostomy.
Describe Yourself:
Average Health.

Eakin seal worked great for about a year but then I seemed to develop an allergy to the product so I had to switch to another seal (Adapt). That said, I still found the Eakin seal was the easiest seal to mold around my stoma. I did have to flatten it out or compress the seal as it seemed too thick. I switched to Eakin Slims and that thickness was perfect but I seemed to have a dermatitis reaction to the product. It worked great before that though and maybe I'll try it again.

Pros:
Easy Storage. Lightweight.
Best Uses:
Ileostomy.
Describe Yourself:

I use this as a gasket around the ileostomy stoma. I role a small piece of into a thin rope and put it entirely around the stoma and then apply the adhesive patch and ostomy bag. Works great. One circle will last for 5-7 bag changes. The thermoplastic nature makes it stick to your fingers and makes this difficult but not impossible to manage.

Helps to prevent leakage Verified Purchaser

Safe. Lightweight. Easy Storage. Sturdy. leakage protection .
Cons:
expensive.
Best Uses:
prevents leakage.
Describe Yourself:

Cut through the cohesive seal with a scissors and wrap the seal around stoma for added protection and to prevent leakage. Place several minutes of finger pressure around the seal so it adheres firmly to the skin around the stoma. This will be very effective in preventing leaks. The seal will last up to a week.

Answer:
I use the 1 7/8 mm Protective Barrier Seal. I use a scissors to cut the seal and then wrap the seal snugly around the base of the stoma. Use your index finger against the seal and it will adhere to the skin around the stoma. This will provide an excellent skin protector and will greatly help to prevent leakage. Then proceed to place the protective wafer over the seal-protected stoma. Place pressure on the for several minutes so that it adheres to the skin. You should have no problems with leakage if you carefully follow these instructions. Hang in there. This procedure will become quite easy with practice.
