Product Overview

Phoenix Ostomy Support System

Phoenix Ostomy Support System

The Phoenix Ostomy Support System is an ostomy appliance belt that conceals and supports an ostomy pouch as well as provides peristomal hernia and leakage support. This new and improved Phoenix Belt features a wider elastic band around the top and bottom of the waist and are made of a more durable fabric. The pocket forming panel is designed to support an ostomy collection pouch in a secure, horizontal position on the wearer's abdomen without interfering with the function of the ostomy appliance. The removable inserts, surrounding the belt's stomal opening, support peristomal hernias and help prevent leakage.

The collection pouch is held completely covered while allowing the pouch to expand. The pouch remains readily accessible for removal and cleaning with minimum adjustment and without removal of the belt itself.

The System is adaptable for either right or left side stomas and is used be colostomy and ileostomy wearers who use a standard size collection pouch. it may be used with either one-piece or two-piece pouch systems.

"I have always worn my pouch vertically. How can it fill properly and not affect my stoma in the horizontal position?"

The Phoenix System allows the pouch to fill horizontally (without affecting the stoma) the same way it fills while you are sleeping at night. You should empty the pouch when you start to feel the weight of the output which is usually when it gets about one-third full. One-third full is the level at which the pouch manufactures recommend emptying anyway.

In addition to boosting self-confidence and allowing the wearer to reclaim their active lifestyle, the Phoenix Ostomy System also offers the following features & benefits:

I don't agree with all the facts Verified Reviewer

Cons:
Unsafe. Flimsy.

I ordered three of the Phoenix Ostomy Support Systems. To my disappointment, I could not use them to support my ostomy pouch. The directions is to wear the ostomy pouch sideways. In fact, its the only way you can wear the pouch with the support belt. During my sleep at night, my pouch never fills with stool. I haven't seen it yet anyways, but it does fill with air sometimes. Gravity rules, and to wear the pouch sideways, always kept the stoma full and covered with stool which proved to be very irratating most of the time. I was for the most part very uncomfortable during the work day wearing the belt. The pouch obviously fits thru a hole on the belt and at times I felt even more discomfort if the belt moved because it would put a bit of a force or strain on the pouch, especially if it was full, thus creating a danger of breaking the seal. One night I woke up to find my pouch full of air, and I had difficulty removing a full blown pouch from the belt pocket and I broke the seal in the process. Also, the belt is not made for all brands of ostomy pouches which is another disappointment. The bottom line is that I after buying three of them at the same time based on positive testimonies, I could not use the belts for its intended use. I do use them however to conceal my pouch for intimacy or perhaps when I don't want to wear a shirt. Again, I have no choice but to wear my pouch vertically (as gravity rules) for the best comfort. I never use the belt pocket because of what I mentioned above, so I simply fold my ostomy pouch in two or three and the belt holds it in place to conceal it temporarily, then the belt is removed. For what its worth, the belt proved to be useless and was not for me. Thanks...Paul T.

Not what we' had hoped for Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Adjustable.
Cons:
Uncomfortable.
Best Uses:
Home.
Describe Yourself:

The material is nice, but can't re snap after unsnapping. Very bulky under clothing,it is more noticable than just the bag alone. It almost requires a video to figure out how to wear it, and the urostomy bags are bigger than the pouch to slide it in. Doesn't seem to be an easy thing to get at the valve to empty it, or to attach a night drainage system to it. No place for the hose to come out.

Waste Of Money

Cons:
Doesn't Fit. Difficult to snap.
Describe Yourself:
Caregiver.

Purchased this item for my elderly uncle and I am terribly disappointed with it. I was looking for something to make him more confident when he goes out, and something to support the ostomy bag to extend it's wearing time and it does quite the opposite. Both times he has worn it it ended up pulling the bag loose. Bought the M/L and while the belt fits him, there is NO WAY it would fit someone with a 40" waist. The snaps are also very difficult for him to fasten and he needed help to put it on. Thankfully my mother sews and we can see the potential is there. He is willing to try wearing it again if we can come up with some alterations. However, if it had come with a money-back guarantee I would be sending it back today!

Best Uses:

This has made life a lot easier with the ostomy bag. It keeps it in place and the color helps camouflage the bag. I where it all the time.
