Product Overview

Phoenix Ostomy Support System

Phoenix Ostomy Support System

The Phoenix Ostomy Support System is an ostomy appliance belt that conceals and supports an ostomy pouch as well as provides peristomal hernia and leakage support. This new and improved Phoenix Belt features a wider elastic band around the top and bottom of the waist and are made of a more durable fabric. The pocket forming panel is designed to support an ostomy collection pouch in a secure, horizontal position on the wearer's abdomen without interfering with the function of the ostomy appliance. The removable inserts, surrounding the belt's stomal opening, support peristomal hernias and help prevent leakage.

The collection pouch is held completely covered while allowing the pouch to expand. The pouch remains readily accessible for removal and cleaning with minimum adjustment and without removal of the belt itself.

The System is adaptable for either right or left side stomas and is used be colostomy and ileostomy wearers who use a standard size collection pouch. it may be used with either one-piece or two-piece pouch systems.

"I have always worn my pouch vertically. How can it fill properly and not affect my stoma in the horizontal position?"

The Phoenix System allows the pouch to fill horizontally (without affecting the stoma) the same way it fills while you are sleeping at night. You should empty the pouch when you start to feel the weight of the output which is usually when it gets about one-third full. One-third full is the level at which the pouch manufactures recommend emptying anyway.

In addition to boosting self-confidence and allowing the wearer to reclaim their active lifestyle, the Phoenix Ostomy System also offers the following features & benefits:

VERY pleased with this belt. Verified Reviewer

Pros:
Lightweight. Easy Storage. Safe.

From the first time I started wearing this ostomy belt I have been very pleased with its effect. What I really like is that with this belt there are no bulges as with other belts so clothing looks and feels much better. It's been great for supporting my peristomal hernia as well as my pouching system. By the way I have had a colostomy for 16 years. Also, the texture of the material is sooooo soft. Last but not least it is great for intimate moments with my husband. I highly recommend this product.

Everything has pro's and con's. Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Adjustable. Now able to wear pants. Breathable. Able to bend over again. Quality Materials. Comfortable.
Best Uses:
Cold Weather. Daily Use. Travel.

Being able to wear pants again makes this product a must have for me. Before, the phoenix belt, my ostomy bag was choked off by my belt line. This caused me to wear my pants either very loose or to wear sweat pants to allow the stool to fill the bottom of the bag. The phoenix belt also allows me to bend over more easily. I'm able to tie my shoes again. On the con side, I must bend over while emptying the ostomy bag to keep the end of the bag in the toilet. Also, I believe the phoenix belt will be easily seen when a summer wardrobe is wore. And lastly, the phoenix belt is costly. I should have tried to run the belt through my insurance company, even if that meant buying my belt from a different supplier.

Question:
My husband is a large man. Needs a ostomy support belt at least 48"long. His ostomy is a little higher up on his tummy and he has a hard time emptying it wearing it normally vertically. Would he be able to empty it in a horizontal position? If this doesn't work how difficult is it to get our money back?
