Product Overview

Phoenix Ostomy Support System

Phoenix Ostomy Support System

The Phoenix Ostomy Support System is an ostomy appliance belt that conceals and supports an ostomy pouch as well as provides peristomal hernia and leakage support. This new and improved Phoenix Belt features a wider elastic band around the top and bottom of the waist and are made of a more durable fabric. The pocket forming panel is designed to support an ostomy collection pouch in a secure, horizontal position on the wearer's abdomen without interfering with the function of the ostomy appliance. The removable inserts, surrounding the belt's stomal opening, support peristomal hernias and help prevent leakage.

The collection pouch is held completely covered while allowing the pouch to expand. The pouch remains readily accessible for removal and cleaning with minimum adjustment and without removal of the belt itself.

The System is adaptable for either right or left side stomas and is used be colostomy and ileostomy wearers who use a standard size collection pouch. it may be used with either one-piece or two-piece pouch systems.

"I have always worn my pouch vertically. How can it fill properly and not affect my stoma in the horizontal position?"

The Phoenix System allows the pouch to fill horizontally (without affecting the stoma) the same way it fills while you are sleeping at night. You should empty the pouch when you start to feel the weight of the output which is usually when it gets about one-third full. One-third full is the level at which the pouch manufactures recommend emptying anyway.

In addition to boosting self-confidence and allowing the wearer to reclaim their active lifestyle, the Phoenix Ostomy System also offers the following features & benefits:

Phoenix Ostomy Support System Features:

  • Conceals & supports collection pouch securely.
  • Made of soft, stretchy, breathable fabric.
  • Encloses pouch in fabric pocket.
  • Reduces pouch noise.
  • Used for colostomies & ileostomies
  • Used with one-piece or two-piece systems.
  • Used with right or left side stomas.
  • Allows pouch cleaning without removing the belt.
  • Can be comfortably worn day and night.
  • Easily laundered.

The Removable Inserts:

  • Provide peristomal hernia support.
  • Help prevent leakage.
  • Allow wearer to control level of support.

Belt is made of 90% cotton & 10% lycra. Removable support contains synthetic rubber. DO NOT USE if you are allergic to synthetic rubber. If a reaction occurs, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

needs a little adjusting Verified Purchaser

Lightweight. Easy Storage. Safe. Sturdy.

My husband only used this once so far, when he had to have a cardiac catheterization. It was great, he had no worries or embarassment - the bag was covered and safe. I ordered it for him and the size I got is a bit too large, so I need to sew it a bit smaller. Then we can see how he likes it for everyday. No matter even if he doesn't there ARE times he will rely on it, such as dr visits, intimacy, etc. There is a hole with supports to go over the wafer. I think it could be a little bigger, but this is minor. He said it was no problem emptying the bag with it on sideways, which WAS a concern.

needs to be wider for some patients Verified Purchaser

Lightweight. Safe. Easy Storage.
Best Uses:
Following Surgery.
Describe Yourself:
Granite worker.

i use the product for two reasons...first to hide the surgery scar....the other is to support my ostomy of course...however, there are a couple of concerns....the belt needs to be wider for patients that have larger abdomin is somewhat large, and because of that, the belt has a tendancy to creep down pulling on my ostomy pouch...also, if the belt was wider, it would be able to support more gastric air that fills the pouch... when the pouch is full of gastric air or even stool, it makes it more difficult to pull the pouch out of the belt pocket, especially if you are sleeping and using a night i was wearing the belt, and i woke up to find my pouch full of air to its maximum...the clip was caught inside the belt pocket making it difficult to grasp, and when i was attempting to remove the ostomy pouch, i broke the seal creating a mess in the middle of the night...i believe a wider belt can cure that problem....the other concern is that my weight fluxuates between a large and a small...its on that fine line as my waist is a size 36 or sometimes smaller...a large velcro snap or additional lines of snaps may cure that problem...i have two of your ostomy support systems...even though i love the product, i dont wear them as much as i would like because of these reasons.

Too much velcro Verified Purchaser

Describe Yourself:

The best thing about this is how sturdy and tightly it holds. I couldn't get the knack of putting in the pouch sideways so I just use the belt to tuck and hold the appliance. What I dislike is the rough and scratchy feel of the ends of the velcro on your skin as you move it with it.

My husband is a large man. Needs a ostomy support belt at least 48"long. His ostomy is a little higher up on his tummy and he has a hard time emptying it wearing it normally vertically. Would he be able to empty it in a horizontal position? If this doesn't work how difficult is it to get our money back?
