The EasyPivot™ Model EP-82 Lifter is a lightweight lift that is designed for individual use in the home or light commercial setting. This versatile lift fits most patients of average size and is custom set for each patient at the factory prior to shipment.

The EP-82 has a center column for exceptional balance, total-lock front wheels, and dual pull handles. Rand-Scot optimized the design for low cost and high durability - including molded urethane rubber upholstery, a three-setting wheelbase, and a unique dual-position stop lock for the chest pad forward pivot. The wheelbase leg width variance is accomplished by placing the lifter legs in a "V" shape (wider at the front and narrower at the back). The EP-82 is custom set for each patient at the factory prior to shipping.

It will pass through a 24" wide doorway when configured in its narrow wheelbase setting. The wheels on the EP-82 are a durable 1" wide by 3" diameter for easy rolling.

• Weight of Patient
• Height of Patient
• Bottom of heel to crease in back of knee length of Patient
• Outer width dimensions of Patient's wheelchair (front caster wheels) or front leg width of upholstered chair or other object most commonly used for transfers

The mechanical lift reduces caregiver strain and thereby helps prevent back injuries. The EasyPivot™ can lift those needing total assistance such as the MS or SCI quadriplegic or those with stroke. It is also useful for the frail, weak elderly or post-operative patient. It SHOULD NOT BE USED for those with osteoporosis, contractures, open fractures and new hip or joint replacements as well as ventilated patients unless medical approval is obtained.

Unlike conventional Patient Lifts that use slings and center point lift hydraulics or electric motors, the EasyPivot™ manually lifts the patient gently while he or she is in a semi-standing position. The patient is supported with ample padding at the knees and upper chest area. The machine is rolled in front of the person, and the feet placed on the footbase. The knees rest against sculptured knee pads and the back of the legs are strapped to prevent movement. A thigh strap is used to support the patient’s weight and brings them into a stooped over position against the chest pad. The caregiver, standing in front of the lift, pulls forward on the lift handles. The patient rises and rotates forward to a the leaning position which is very comfortable. A back strap is then attached to stabilize the patient over the chest pad. The patient’s own weight helps in the lifting process. The caregiver’s body mechanics are such that strain is minimized.

In 1973, an automobile accident left mechanical engineer Joel Lerich a quadriplegic. After months of rehabilitation Joel mastered most daily tasks. One task, however, proved to be a menacing obstacle: transferring from place to place. Joel never felt quite safe or stable in a traditional sling lift or on a sliding board. He also became concerned about the long term effects of lifting on his wife's health.

There had to be a better way.
Drawing on his mechanical engineering experience, Joel found that better way and the EasyPivot™ lift was born: a streamlined machine for safe efficient transfers that contributes to the health of both the patient and caregiver.

Health & Safety
