My mother accidently rolled out of an unfamilar bed while on vacation and fortunately only had some bumps and bruises. We were looking for something that would be portable and not make changing the bedding a significant task for her. It's working very well for her.

We bought this item to add a "hospital style" bed rail to the dinette bed in the RV so my elderly mother could feel safe when she sleeps for the night in our RV. When we use the rail in addition to the foam bed wedge, it becomes a pretty good substitute for her hospital bed. In addition, the bed board is so solid, that it also becomes an extra safety rail when she is walking around in the RV. (She is not in the bed or walking around while we are going down the road, but when we stop for the night.)

This rail is great because it is sturdy yet smaller than others so it does not take up too much room. It is perfect when you need a little assistance sitting up in bed, or pulling yourself to the side.
