Many times when I was helping my mother walk with her walker or just getting transferred to a chair, her knees would buckle and I would have to just hold her and left her slide easily to floor because she was too heavy to hold. This is where the lift and sling come in. Once on the floor, you can roll person onto the sling and then hook it up to the lift and raise person into chair, bed, etc. It is a device no home that has a partially or fully immobile person should be without.

With this Hoyer One Piece sling, do you need a piece of lift equipment, or can you just grab on to the sling to help lift someone who has slid to the floor?

no, back injury could occur... You could use this to move someone up in the bed............
