The Invacare Alternating Pressure System with Pump continually changes air pressure to improve circulation. Model "D" pump with 8 gauge Medicare vinyl pad (11 columns, 2.5" inflated with flaps). 115V AC, 60 Hz; pressure fixed at 100 mmHg. Air output: 4.5 liters; cycle time: 5 minutes. Unit is UL-listed, measures 8.5" x 4.25" x 3-5/8", and weighs 3 lbs. Includes 10' power cord. Weight capacity: 220lbs. 1-year warranty on pump; 6-month on pad.

Purchased this for my mother. It was easy to set up, and it is easy to use. I also ordered a replacement air pad just in case the one that came with it starts to leak. It is a simple and affordable alternative to the high dollar systems.

We purchased this alternating pressure overlay for our disabled teen son's home hospital bed when he showed signs of beginning to develop pressure spots after a recent surgery.
First of all, be aware that when you first take it out of the package, the product looks way too long to fit on the bed, but once it's inflated, the size is perfect.
Initially, we were frustrated by issues getting it to inflate, and the info in the manual pertained more to other deluxe models than to the basic one we purchased. However, after some very helpful telephone support from the Allegro customer service department, we got the product up and running. (For the record, the manual we received doesn't state this, but the initial inflation takes a good hour, even at the highest setting.)
We are very pleased overall because within a couple of days, we figured out the best setting for our son, and his red spots disappeared completely and have not returned.
We were also concerned that the product wouldn't stay in place on the bed with the just the long end flaps to tuck under the mattress, but we've had no problems with this, and the sheet fits over it just fine.
It's been a couple of weeks, and the plastic smell is still lingering somewhat in the room, but overall, we are very pleased with the value and effectiveness of this product.

Beware - Pressure is Fixed, not Variable
Cons:
Pressure NOT adjustable.

Alternating Pressure Pads are great for preventing bed sores (decubes) however most other models allow you to adjust the pressure, this model does NOT. We prefer a lower pressure level for better comfort. A 5 minute cycle time is very good, it actually promotes better circulation.

 My mother lives in Fiji where they use 240V versus the 110V here in the states. Would this be able to be hooked to a converter. what size of converter would be needed.
