Dry Pro Waterproof Cast Protector Never has such a simple product changed the quality of life for so many people. If you have a cast, wound care bandage, limb prosthesis, PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) or IV line that is keeping you from bathing or swimming worry no longer, your problem has been solved by DryPro. You can now have waterproof protection with confidence. Dry Pro is made of surgical latex material and features a series of products to cover casts, wound bandages, prostheses, PICCs and will soon have a cover for ostomy stomas. The cast/wound care protectors completely cover the hand or foot to above the cast, bandage area or prosthesis. The PICC product covers from mid arm, over the elbow, to mid bicep. The prosthesis covers the complete leg prosthesis much like the cast protector but is made of a different material and color . Dry Pro offers the only leg and arm cast protection in the world with the patented vacuum seal to keep your bandage, cast or prosthesis dry. They are so completely and totally waterproof, between the waterproof latex and the vacuum seal, that you can even dive off a diving board or ride the ocean waves and still have your cast stay completely dry. Features and Benefits of the DryPro cast protector: The Dry Pro is easy to use. Slide the Dry Pro over the appendage and pump the air out by squeezing the built in pump until the bulb is flattened. Remove bulb and quickly cap the stem. The patient can go swimming, bathe, shower or receive hydrotherapy while wearing the sleeve. You can even dive off a diving board or ride the ocean waves. The protector cannot slip off! In fact it cant even be pulled off when in the deflated state. The Dry Pro is made of thick surgical latex that can stretch up to 600 percent without tearing. This durable product is comfortable and flexible and also features a Non-Skid Grid on the sole of the leg protector to prevent slipping. Dry Pro, with the patented vacuum seal and Non-Skid Grid, offers the safest and most effective product on the market. Other cast cover products do not offer the same waterproof guarantee as the Dry Pro. The Dry Pro is available in a variety of sizes designed to fit children as young as two years of age up to adults as tall as 6' 6". The product is economical and priced comparably to other less durable products on the market. Repeated leak-proof testing proves the reliability of the Dry Pro as the only truly waterproof protector. When applying the Dry Pro, the built-in pump flattens to indicate that the seal is intact and will not leak. The Dry Pro offers prostheses wearers an alternative to removing the prosthesis during water activities. The Dry Pro carries a one year guarantee. The Dry Pro line contains LATEX. Anyone with latex allergies should not use this product. DryPro Waterproof Cast Cover Measurements 1 - Measure for the length of the protector ARM: Measure from the tip of the middle finger to the top end of the cast or prosthetic. (If the cast goes above the elbow, follow the bend of the arm to the top of the cast.) ADD 2 inches to your measurement to obtain the minimum protector length. If adding 2 places the measurement near the bend of the elbow, then measure to the mid bicep and use this final measurement. The protector will not seal properly if the end of the opening is at the elbow. LEG: Measure from the back of the heel (from the floor) to the top end of the cast or prosthesis. ADD 2 inches to your measurement to obtain the minimum protector length. If adding 2 places the measurement near the bend of the knee, then measure to the mid thigh and use this final measurement. The protector will not seal properly if the end of the opening is at the knee. Make sure to choose a Dry Pro length that will end up at least 2 inches above your cast but not stop at the bend of the elbow or knee.Don't worry if the Dry Pro cover you need to choose is too long. The excess material of the cover will flatten down when the air is pumped out. 2 - Measure for the opening size of the protector ARM: Measure the circumference of the arm just above the cast or bandage. If you had to use a mid bicep measurement for length, then measure the circumference at mid bicep. LEG: Measure the circumference of the leg just above the cast or bandage. If you had to use a mid thigh measurement for length, then measure the circumference at mid thigh. Choose a Dry Pro cover that is at least 1 inch Smaller than your circumference measurement. Dry Pro arm and leg covers are designed to fit snugly, especially the opening at the end of the cover where the covers must remain sealed. To create a good vacuum seal the opening for your specific cast cover needs to be smaller than your limb. Slide on Dry Pro - Stretch on the Dry Pro waterproof bandage cover so that it completely covers the cast or bandage plus an additional inch. The top should be smooth against the skin. Be careful of sharp objects. A fingernail, sharp fiberglass threads on a cast, can rip the Dry Pro cast and bandage protector. Putting a soft ace bandage or a tube sock with the toe cut out over the fiberglass cast will help reduce sharp fiberglass threads from cutting into the Dry Pro waterproof bandage cover. 2. Pump out the air - Continue to press the bulb until it remains flat and the Dry Pro waterproof clothing is completely wrinkled. Remove the pump and push on the safety cap. Observe the Dry Pro waterproof cast and bandage cover for a few minutes before going in the water. As long as the DryPro waterproof clothing stays collapsed and wrinkled, the vacuum is intact and the Dry Pro bandage protector cannot leak or come off. 3. Slide off - When you are done using the Dry Pro waterproof clothing, simply lift up the cuff to let the air back in. The Dry Pro waterproof bandage cover should now be loose. Simply slide it back off. Note - Do not leave on for extended periods of time. We recommend removing it after every 45 minutes of use. Do not use in vascular compromised patients. Steady yourself in wet slippery areas. The Dry Pro cast and bandage protector contains natural rubber latex, which may cause allergic reactions. Always follow your doctor's advice. Due to often short recovery times & hygienic reasons the Dry Pro Waterproof Cast Protector is non-returnable Click here to see the Dry Pro PICC Cover Click here to see the Dry Pro Leg Prosthesis Cover

This is the best invention EVER! I had no idea these existed until I had a severe fall, broke and dislocated my ankle. I broke both sides, and ended up with surgery to insert 2 plates and 7 pins. I was ordered to be completely off-weight for 8 weeks at least. The orthopeadic surgeon recommened this product, and it was a life-saver. I have since recommended for several friends that have had injuries, or children with injuries.

Bought this for our child - for use with a cast - even the smallest one was a little large, but then again, we can keep it for future use and hope that just having it on hand will prevent the need! At any rate - it was a great help with bathing and for swmimming - although I did have to wash it with mild soap because it absorbed odors....yuk!

Worked pretty well. My 4 year old son broke his arm just prior to our summer vacation on the river. This product allowed him to play at the beach and take baths without his cast getting wet. His only complaint was that it hurt his arm when we suctioned the air out of the product. Overall a very durable product and I would recommend it to others.

My son broke his arm at the beginning of summer break. Since we have a pool in our backyard, this was a life saver. We even went out on the neighbors boat, where he was able to do a little tubing. Since his cast went nearly up to his armpit, we found that a slight amount of water got in, but we put the cuff of a sock around the top of the cast, to soak up what little got in.

When my 9 year old broke her arm, we were happy to find this product so we could enjoy our waterpark vacation and the rest of the summer. When it arrived, I was concerned it might cut off her circulation but this was never an issue. It fits tight, but is very comfortable around her bicep and did not cause any tingling or discoloration of the fingers. She has taught the counselors at her camp how to pull it on and off without any problems. It comes with a small pump that takes out the excess air. She has worn it for many swimming events and bathtime without a single drop of water entering the cast area. We love this product!

Comments about Dry Pro Dry Pro Waterproof Cast Protector:

The cast protector works as advertised but, we have had to modify it to make it work. We ordered the x-small for children for our 5 year old son, and have to put waterproof tape around the top of it to make it stay closed. If we didn't it wouldn't work. There is no smaller size, but clearly small children find ways to break their bones.

Works well in pools, on the beach, etc. Would not recommend for use in waves, as water could be forced down through the top seal. We duct taped below the top seal to stop if from rolling down. Also, keep an eye on the valve-we duct taped it to stop it from opening accidentally. All in all, a great product that salvaged my 10 year old sons trip to the beach after he fractured his ankle. Just remember that nothing is fooolproof and you'll do well with this!

Comments about Dry Pro Dry Pro Waterproof Cast Protector:

The cast cover works great in the shower. For the pool, it is not 100% waterproof; my son (8yrs) swam underwater with it and water did seap in although the seal was never broken. There was never any water seapage in the shower, maybe because it is not submergered underwater in the shower. He has a full arm cast and the cover that met his size requirements is very long for his arm, it hangs about 6 inches past his finger tips. It is good for the summer but for my son, it is uncomfortable and now that it leaked once we have to be very cautious when using it. I guess it is better than nothing. I found water-proof casting material on another site that my orthopaedic surgeon is going to put on at the next appt. [@]

I do recommend this product, but not for those who have had recent surgery.

The pumping process to remove the air and create the seal that makes this product so great caused great pain to my foot, especially at the incision.

The product does do what it claims, the seal is waterproof, However I would have to endure a great amount of pain to actually use the product the way it is intended.

I still use it to cover my cast. I keep it outside the tub while I bathe without removing the air, but honestly a garbage bag would work just as well.

This is a good product and really waterproof. I can swim with it in a pool and do watersports at the beach too. It's ionly con is it is bulky and has a huge hand - I have to duct tape it down to a more usable size. The XeroSox is very similar but thinner and more flexible - but it hasn't torn yet, so I prefer the XeroSox. But do not buy these products from Allegro - their return department is terrible - they refused to give me a return authorization number for items within their return guidelines and "could not find' another return.

Comments about Dry Pro Dry Pro Waterproof Cast Protector:

My doctor recommended this instead of a waterproof cast for my below-the-knee cast. For my initial post-surgery cast, it didn't even look like it was going to fit, and indeed it was a *little* difficult to put on and take off. But I did get it on, and it did its job well. When I had my cast changed to something slimmer at my first post-op appointment, there was no problem taking the Dry Pro on and off. I have only used it in the shower, not swimming or bathtub or ocean. The only concern I have is the first time I used it, it did feel like it was cutting off the circulation after 20 minutes or so (hey, it takes time to get in the shower with one good leg), but I made sure to take it off before too long. No indications of leaking or rips. I highly recommend this.

You will need 2 people to put it on and take it off easily. Once home, he was able to continue water polo conditioning until the cast came off! No athletic down time.

We're on a 2 week vacation at the ocean. When we bought it we were very hesitant about using the protector. My son broke his elbow and has pins in the bones, so it's very important that we don't get his cast wet. But the first time we used this product it worked great. We've been using it for 10 days now and everyday it seals great and we've had no water on his cast. Thank you for making our vacation fun this year!

My daughter broke her arm in July. Since we spend our summers swimming, we were all worried about the effect this would have on her summer. My 6yr old broke his arm fathers day weekend so we thought this would be the answer to all our summer plans that had be haulted. Not so the arm opening was so tight it wouldn't fit over his splint, after a couple of weeks he got a normal plaster cast and it went over it fine but the valve did not stay on so water leaked into it and it doesn't stay tight against the skin at the forearm when bending the arm.

Maybe this one was just defective but I doubt it.

I ordered the cover for my son when he broke his leg. The product would not maintain a seal. [...] We tried for an hour to get all the air out and as soon as he would move the seal would allow air in all over again. We measured properly and it seemed to fit fine until he moved. The cover is simply designed to fit like a glove so there is nothing except a tight fit to ensure no air/water enters. Good luck.

Comments about Dry Pro Dry Pro Waterproof Cast Protector:

The Dry Pro cast protector gave my daughter her summer back! My very, very active 11 year old daughter broke her femur along the growth plate at the beginning of the summer. Her leg was put in a full length leg cast which meant no swimming. Not being able to swim in the summer here in Texas is complete torture! She even went two weeks without a shower because she couldn't handle the hassle that happened when trying to keep her cast dry. Because my daughter was so miserable, I took the chance and ordered the Dry Pro without any prior knowledge of it figuring I had nothing to lose but 30 something dollars. It was the best chance I have every taken!! You could see the life coming back into my daughter's face the first time she used it. We were at a pool party and she had the best time of her life. The freedom she felt away from the cast showed so brightly in her face. She just beamed! The Dry Pro cast protector has giving my daughter some summer fun that wouldn't have been possible with anything else. It works perfectly and is so easy! We have had nothing but great results with it. People have been amazed by it when they see her swimming. Dry Pro cast protector made my daughter smile again and for me that is "PRICELESS"! I will always recommend it to anyone I see with a cast on. I can't wait to tell our orthopedic doctor about it.

Thanks again for such a wonderful product! Your product made a very depressing time in my daughter's life a little brighter.
