I love it. I store it in the back of my van. When i visit places that are not accessible i use the ramp. I like that it is light weight so anyone can help me set it up. Even my 7 year old neice can set it up. I like it so much i look forward to going somewhere not accessible so I can show it off. I want to get one for my friend thats also in a wheelchair.

Great when visiting

Pros:
Lightweight. Functional.
Best Uses:
Travel.
Describe Yourself:
Caregiver.

Great to get a wheelchair over a threshold when visiting someone else's home. Lightweight to pick up and store. Could not be left in a doorway that has a screen door. At our own house, we use the rubber threshold ramp instead and leave it in front of the door.

Answer:
As I understand it the ADA requirement is 12:1 or 12" for every 1" of rise, so a 7" rise would be 14 feet. However, if it is your private home you can install a ramp at 12:2 and if it is aluminum, or what is considered a non-permanent structure, you do not need a permit but make sure to get the correct threshold end piece to make the transition to the ground smooth. They are relatively easy to install. Every 10 foot of ramp should have a platform which would lessen the angle of the ramp to a smoother transition. Look at the ADA website for information on whether you need a platform depending on the layout of your entrance and yard. The beauty of an aluminum non-permanent ramp is that if you need to move you can take it with you. If it is over a grass area remember to get yard fabric to prevent weeds from growing under the ramp and simply cover with mulch or like choice. I bordered ours with paving stones to retain the mulch in place which are on average $.50 a piece. For muddy areas you can use decomposed granite to cover the walk area and it is low maintenance with a weed kill product to prevent growth in the walk way to make for smoother surface and less mess.

Does this have to be "installed" or can you leave it uninstalled so you can move it to different locations or take it with you? Would it slip or move around if not installed?

Answer:
It doesn't appear that you could connect them end to end. You would need a longer 1 piece ramp for a higher rise.

Answer:
I have these ramps installed on my doors and it's about 2" lift. These work fine on my doors but I am in a manual chair not a power chair. I do use an electric chair for outdoor use and I utilize the ramp on the garage door leading out of the house with no problems at all. I think the ramps work wonderfully. They appear to be sturdy.
