![]() Has anyone used the Women's Ambulator Stretchers Shoe for recovery from bunion surgery? I am in my seventh week after bunion surgery . I was told to walk in my big black walking boot for one week, and then move to a shoe for a week. ( and then go back to work full time and be on my feet all day) There is just no way that is going to happen. I can't get my swollen foot into any shoe right now. Would these shoes work for my swollen tender foot? and if so , would it be best to just get the one for the surgery foot or get a pair, so both feet are the same height . I am wondering if walking in the "Boot" they gave me which is higher than my shoe, is what is causing my foot to hurt , since it is higher than my shoe on my good foot,, and the boot is rather hard inside with no arch support. If anyone has any ideas or advise I would appreciate it ! Thanks !

...I don't know if anyone answered your question but when i had a torn achilles tendon they 'tried' to put one of those heavy boots on me & all it did was throw my hip & back out...so i had to go w/my intuition which was to forget the boot altogether...you are right, the mismatched height is not good and is throwing your balance off so you over compensate which makes the muscles fight each other to try to avoid the pain...did you talk w/your surgeon or whoever prescribed the boot?...maybe they can modify the boot for you if you absolutely have to wear it...right now i am recovering from a broken bone in my foot so my a.n.p. has me in a lite weight canvas type walking 'shoe' that you slide your foot into and two velcro straps secure your foot...the straps can accommodate a swollen foot..you snip off the excess as your swelling goes down...this orthopedic shoe is really a neat little number i hope you can get someone to prescribe you one...i wish you well, & jumpin' for joy down the line when you've overcome this challenge...today is 3/9/12
