Superior Gliding Action

Pros:
Sturdy. Lightweight.
Best Uses:
Elderly.
Describe Yourself:
Caregiver.

My 96 year old mother uses this syringe to irrigate her permanent catheter. With her limited strength and dexterity she finds it much easier to glide than the other 3 we have used. We are thrilled with this product

Easiest to use that *I* have used! Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Plunger doesn't stick. Ergonomic. Easy to use.
Cons:
None.
Best Uses:
Suctioning fluid. Irrigating catheters. Following Surgery.
Describe Yourself:
paraplegic. Stoma in belly button. Continent urinary diversi.

The irrigation kits that the hospital gave me to use when I was first discharged, with instructions to irrigate the foley catheter they had inserted in my new stoma in my belly, had syringes that looked very much like these -- except they would STICK. When I got to the unusual situation I'm in now... where I actually suction the urine out of my bladder through a straight catheter inserted in my new stoma, the sticking was even more of a problem. I had a hard time telling whether there was some internal obstruction that was keeping the plunger from moving in or out, or whether the plunger was just sticking. It was driving me insane, and my hand was actually starting to ache from trying to use the stiff, sticky things. THESE syringes, however, though they may LOOK like the ones in the irrigation kits I was using, have plungers that slide like silk in either direction. My hands don't hurt at all! There are convenient flanges to use to hold onto when you push or pull. A side benefit that I hadn't thought of was also that, because the volume markings are part of the plastic housing and not just printed on, I don't have to worry about scratching off the markings or by accidentally dissolving some of them with residual disinfectant on my hands from cleaning the area around my stoma. So, yep... LOVE these things, and will continue to get these.
