Just What We Needed

Pros:
Easy to Install. Strong Support. Stores Easily. Functional. Safe. High Quality.
Best Uses:
Home. Daily Use. Travel.
Describe Yourself:
Long Term User. Caregiver.

Don't hesitate to purchase a ramp like this. It enables the wheelchair user to be more independent getting in and out of the house. We use our 4 foot ramp for an 8 inch step. The incline is fine for an independent user.

Works well.. But buy longer!

Pros:
Easy to Install. Strong Support. Stores Easily. Functional. High Quality.
Cons:
Too short.. Buy longer. Heavy.
Best Uses:
Home. Auto.
Describe Yourself:
Short Term User.

I measured the stairs, and it seemed I'd need 5.5 feet. But the 6' turns out to be too steep... Buy one at least 1-2 feet longer than you think you need.

Answer:
As per ADA California requires 1" rise equal 12" long. So do your math, if the curve is 4" height then your ramp should be 48" long minimum.

Answer:
The ramp has a carrying handle that is easy to hold and balances the ramp very well. It is portable but when in use if the upper end cannot be attached to the sill then I suggest that when going up the ramp you have someone stand on the upper edge to prevent the ramp from lifting out of place until the wheelchair is about midway up and when going down the ramp have someone stand on the lower edge until the wheelchair is about midway. Remember, whenever possible use the pins to attach the upper edge. Also whenever possible the wheelchair should face forward when going up the ramp. The ramp is well made and sturdy and the surface helps to prevent slipping.
