Rochester Medical®'s clear, all silicone Foley catheters eliminate patient exposure to the latex used in other Foley catheter designs. As an inert, toxin-free elastomer, silicone is ideal for creating a safe, dependable Foley catheter.

Unlike silicone-coated latex Foleys, Rochester Medical's all silicone catheters will not leach chemicals or water-soluble proteins that can irritate the urethral mucosa and lead to stricture formation. The non-stick surface of silicone makes it highly resistant to encrustation. And, because silicone does not absorb fluids, patients do not experience any of the discomfort associated with catheter swelling.

Rochester Medical has incorporated a number of special design features to ensure patient comfort. The smooth, proportional eyelets allow non traumatic insertion and maximum drainage. A patented process forms the balloon as an integral part of the catheter, eliminating rough edges where the balloon meets the shaft. Rochester Medical tests every balloon inflation twice to ensure that it will function reliably.

In addition, Rochester Medical Foley catheters offer features that provide the caregiver with optimum convenience. The ribbed funnel ensures an easy, leak-proof connection while the clear connector and clear shaft allow visual examination of drainage. The silicone shaft also allows for an approximately 30% larger lumen compared to coated-latex Foley catheters. This increases drainage flow, can permit longer use and promotes better drainage of sediment and blood clots.
