The Drive Knee Walker is the great new alternative to standard crutches. The Knee Walker is a new medical device designed for everyone who has an injury below the knee. The user places the knee of the injured leg on the knee pad, then rests the ankle on the rear support and propels the Knee Walker about with the able leg.

To steer the Drive Knee Walker, the user takes a step with the good leg while gently lifting the handle, and turning in the desired direction of travel. The Knee Walker comes equipped with brakes for controlled movement and added safety which can be adjusted for either right or left handed use for easy convertibility.

It is very difficult when turning. You have to pick it up and turn it around and balance on the good leg. Not suitable for small or tight spaces (e.g. bathroom, closet, etc) I can't find swivel wheels for it either.

after having ankle surgery i purchased a knee walker, i was very satisfied with it until the brake cable snapped. at that point i was using it without a brake, i called the dealer to see about getting me a replacement cable, within 7 days i had the cable, unfortunately the way it was designed i had to replace both the lever and brake assembly. i contacted the dealer again who in turn called drive the manufacturer, drive told the dealer they were backordered, long story short it is now october 2008 and that was february 2007 and i'm still waiting. great service by the manufacturer. stay away from drive products if at all possible
