Product Overview

ConvaTec DuoDERM Hydroactive Gel - 30gm

DuoDerm Hydroactive Gel

DuoDERM Hydroactive Sterile Gel is a clear, preservative-free, viscous, hydrogel that contains hydrocolloids. The DuoDERM Hydroactive Gel was designed for the management of partial- and full-thickness wounds, such as pressure sores and leg ulcers. DuoDERM is ideal for use as a filler in dry cavity wounds because it provides a moist healing environment and helps to soften and remove necrotic tissue through the natural autolytic process of debridement.

I suffer from venous stasis on my lower right leg, arising out of Polyarteritis Nodosa [a form of vasculitis], which leaves blisters that itch like crazy, and which I admit that I scratch, leaving an ulcer or lesion. Unfortunately, the itching does not always stop after having scratched; and the lesion needs to be cleaned and covered. I use peroxide to clean, and then place a fairly generous amount of the product over the lesion and then cover it with a teflon pad with adhsive tabs so that use of tape on skin is not necessary. I am here to tell you that not only does the product help heal the lesions, but it stops the awful itching and brings great relief. I change the dressing every 12 hours so that it does not dry out. I do not recommend placing elastic stockings over the dressing for long periods because it dries out the lesion, sticks to the stocking and when pad is peeled off it takes the healed skin with it.
