MEPILEX Ag Foam Dressing- 4" x 4" (10 x 10cm)

MEPILEX Ag Foam Dressing

AllegroMedical.com presents The MEPILEX Ag Foam Dressing. Mepilex Ag is a version of Mepilex where silver has been added. Silver kills bacteria and might be used both for preventing infection and also on wounds with signs of local infection. Your doctor or nurse will know if your wound needs to be treated with a silver dressing.

The unique and patented Safetac® adhesive makes sure that your dressing can be changed without damaging the wound or skin around it. This makes the dressing change as pain free as possible and also makes sure that the skin around your wound stays dry and healthy. If you want to learn more about Safetac.

Safetac technology makes dressing changes less painful because:

  • It adheres gently to dry skin but never to a moist wound
  • It moulds to the wound and surrounding skin. This means that the dressing is easier to remove and does not pull away new tissue in the wound or the skin around the wound
  • It seals the edges of the wound and protects the skin around the wound from becoming waterlogged

Areas of use:

  • Mepilex Ag is a versatile dressing that can be used on many different wounds - your nurse or doctor will know.

Typical wounds that are treated with Mepilex are:

  • Burns (for preventing infection)
  • Pressure ulcers (with signs of local infection)
  • Leg ulcers (with signs of local infection)

Main benefits of Mepilex Ag:

  • Minimises pain and skin damage at dressing changes
  • Effect of silver up to 7 days
  • Very soft and comfortable to wear
  • Can remain in place for several days depending on the condition of the wound

Pros:
Promotes Healing. Effective. Safe. Easy To Use. Doesn't seem to stick. as bad as other foams. Adhesive helps .
Best Uses:
Long Term Use.
Describe Yourself:
Secretary.

I use it with collagen in my wound, Adaptic over the wound to keep the pad from sticking, then finally the Mepilex for its protection, absorption and microbial properties. I have used other foam pads for protection and they seemed to stick to the wound more than the Mepilex.

Great Service, Great Price

Pros:
Promotes Healing. Easy To Use.
Best Uses:
Keep In The Medicine Cabinet. Emergency Preparedness. Quick Fix.

Mepilex AG foam dressing was prescribed by the head of the burn center near where I live. I have a third-degree burn and there were sores on the harvest sites that needed coverage but no adhesive. This product fit the bill - comfortable, easy to use, and the silver ensured that the sores wouldn't get infected. Now that I know about it, I plan to order more to have on hand for emergencies.

Pros:
Promotes Healing. Effective. Safe. Easy To Use.
Best Uses:
Wound Care - Ankle Ulcers.
Describe Yourself:
Secretary.

I use it as the last layer of dressing for my ankle ulcers. It was recommended by my wound care doctor and since I've been using it, I don't have to use the gauze pads to cover everything. I just put tape over foam pad.

Answer:
I had a nasty spider bite and ended up going to a wound clinic. They used the Mepilex Ag . They told me to wear the patch 5-7 days before changing, but if I had drainage leaking around the edges, I should change it sooner. They didn't have me wait before re-applying. Just clean surrounding area and re-apply. The patch worked great and I healed amazingly fast. Hope it works well for you!

Question:
Safety side goes on sore ? Not staying well on ankle bone, even with another bandage over it. Shoe and soft sleeping boot are both causing it to come off. Any suggestions? Thanks

Answer:
Could you try wrapping it with a layer of ace bandage, coflex, or gauze? before putting on socks, shoe, or soft sleeping boot? If you use the coflex or ace bandage, be sure not to wrap tight enough to compress, just to hold in place.

Answer:
Peel the backing off -- the slightly sticky side goes on the wound. It seals down and keeps liquid from leaking onto the surrounding skin. Great product.
