Product Overview

MEPILEX Border Dressing - Sacrum

Mepilex Self Adherent Border Dressing
Sacrum

The Mepilex Border Dressing is an all-in-one foam dressing that effectively absorbs and retains exudate and maintains a moist wound environment.

This dressing is specifically shaped to fit the sacral area.

The Safetac layer seals the wound edges, preventing the exudate to leak onto the surrounding skin, thus minimizing the risk for maceration. The Safetac layer ensures that the dressing can be changed without damaging the wound or surrounding skin or exposing the patient to additional pain.

Benefits of Mepilex Border Dressing:

  • minimizes pain and trauma at dressing changes
  • self-adherent - no secondary fixation needed
  • moisture proof and bacteria proof film backing
  • may be used under compression bandages
  • promotes patient comfort during wear
  • designed for ease of use
  • Safetax Technology - Less Painful Wound Management
  • may remain in place for several days depending on the condition of the wound
  • may be lifted and adjusted without losing its adherent properties
  • low potential for skin irritation and allergy

Great Product!

Pros:
Easy To Use. Effective. Promotes Healing. Safe.
Best Uses:
sacral bed sores/ulcers.
Describe Yourself:
Son/Daughter.

This product was fantastic for use on the treatment of my mother's bed sore. The material offers some relief from pressure due to the thickness of the bandage. It also kept the area clean and dry. Bandage removal was easy as it is non-stick. It did not hurt as much as removal of traditional bandages. Once on, it does stay in place very well. However, it says that it will last several days but I found that it did not stay on very long if it's kept on in the shower even with minimum water contact. It was hard to roll the edges back for the bandage to go back on. Bed baths are probably best if required to get many days wear out of it. I would definitely recommend it as it made a world of difference in getting the sore healed.

Answer:
Yes, you are correct. The border adhesive keeps it in place and the padding protects the wound. It was ordered by the wound center for my Dad's buttocks decubitus and it is the best product we have used for protection and healing; even better than duoderm.

Answer:
Perfect for a bed sore. It will protect and remain in place for a few days. For heavy drainage, the wound should be packed;but this is an excellent product for simple bed sores.

Answer:
this dressing is effective for mild to moderate decubiti. my only dislike with it is that it is effectively sealing the wound area and if the wound is draining, exudation builds under the dressing like a blister. if wound is draining excessively the dressing will be compromised. so i don't recommend it for severe or highly draining type wounds with out additional absorbent dressing.
