PolyMem Dressings protect the wound as they facilitate the body's natural healing process.Ferris PolyMem®, known worldwide as "The Pink Dressing," provides a warm, moist, healing environment that promotes formation of granulation tissue and reepithelialization... and much more. PolyMem Dressings protect the wound as they facilitate the body's natural healing process.

The model of common-sense dressing design

PolyMem Dressings consist of a polyurethane membrane matrix on a semi-permeable thin-film backing. Unlike any other dressing, the hydrophilic membrane contains a cleanser, a moisturizer and a super-absorbent starch co-polymer. This unique design and patented formulation eliminates the need for manual debridement and cleaning during dressing changes, reducing patient discomfort and the time and cost of dressing changes. PolyMem facilitates the healing process by promoting the concentration of the body's naturally produced growth factors, nutrients and regenerated cells in the wound bed.

HERE’S HOW POLYMEM WORKS!
How Polymem works
The Semi-Permeable Film Backing provides a bacterial barrier while allowing gas (O2 and CO2) exchange and maintaining an ideal moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR). The transparent film backing allows visual inspection of the membrane to determine the need for a dressing change.

The Polyurethane Membrane Matrix wicks away up to ten times it’s weight in exudate. It will not fragment and leaves no residue in the wound bed. The membrane contains a cleanser, moisturizer and super-absorbent starch co-polymer.

The F-68 Surfactant contained in the dressing, is a mild wound cleansing agent activated by moisture and gradually released into the wound bed. Interfacial tension between healthy tissue and debris is reduced, loosening eschar and necrotic tissue, supporting autolytic debridement and keeping the wound bed clean throughout the entire wound healing process.

The Glycerin, a moisturizer contained in the dressing, keeps the dressing from adhering to the wound bed, providing comfort at the wound site. Glycerin also reduces odor, conserves living fat cells, reduces hypergranulation, soothes traumatized tissues and supports autolytic debridement.

The Super-Absorbent Starch Co-Polymer contained in the dressing, draws, absorbs and holds excess fluids in the hydrophilic membrane while allowing the body’s natural growth factors and nutrients to concentrate at the wound site.

PolyMem® Cloth-backed Adhesive Dressings deliver the advantages of PolyMem technology and the benefits of a breathable, adhesive-coated cloth backing that is exceptionally comfortable for the user. PolyMem cloth-backed adhesive dressings are ideal for treating ecchymosis and resolving skin tears caused by friction and shear.

PolyMem's Directions for use:
  • FlRST POLYMEM® DRESSING APPLICATI0N: Prepare the wound according to wound management protocol or as directed by a physician. DO NOT CLEAN THE WOUND or flush with saline or water FOR ALL OTHER DRESSING CHANGES.
  • Select a dressing so that the pink membrane is 1/4" - 1/2" larger than the wound.
  • Apply the dressing film side out. DO NOT use any materials to pack the wound while using PolyMem dressings.
  • DRAMATIC increase in wound fluid may be observed during the first few days.
  • Keep the PolyMem dressing DRY when bathing.
  • CHANGE dressing when pad is 75% saturated, or when wound fluid is present at an edge of the dressing.
  • DO NOT CLEAN THE WOUND or flush with saline or water between dressing changes.
  • No other topical treatments should be used in conjunction with PolyMem.

Does not stick to open wound Verified Reviewer

Pros:
Easy To Use. Effective. Safe. Does not stick. Promotes Healing.
Best Uses:
Long Term Use. Leg ulcers.
Describe Yourself:
Experienced leg ulcers.

I've had leg ulcers for over 2 years and nothing worked to heal them. I was introduced to this product because the wraps would stick to my wounds and cause more damage so I started purchasing this on my own and its done a great job. It also helps with people that have a "bottle neck" leg. My calves are large and the unna boot wraps would want to slide down or dig into the leg, this product prevented that as well. Thank you

Scheduled for surgery Thursday to remove the sore, but it may come back - not much of a promise, so we will have this on hand to better work with future returns.

Highest praise and recommendation. Verified Purchaser

Pros:
Safe. Effective. Easy To Use. Promotes Healing.
Best Uses:
Long Term Use.
Describe Yourself:
Medical Professional.

My surgical wound was 8.5 X 5.5 cm. Was sent home with wet-to dry instructions for wound care. Am a nurse, but location of wound made it impossible to properly care for this myself with wet-to-dry. The Memfoam literally is simply changed (as needed according to instructions) and that is it! No cleaning! No packing! No nothing!!! Just change the foam and bandage. This has been close to a miracle for me and I have gone from changing once a day (my fastidious nature- not what instructions even called for) to changing every four to five days since I have zero drainage now. Cannot praise or recommend this product highly enough, period.
