Medline SilvaSorb Hydrogel

SilvaSorb Hydrogel helps hydrate dry wounds and maintain an optimally moist wound healing, which is a key factor in wound healing. SilvaSorb Hydrogel offers antimicrobial protection over a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi, including MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin-resistant enterococcus). SilvaSorb kills microbes, but is completely biocompatible with the tissue cells of healing.

Reasons For Using SilvaSorb Hydrogel:

  • 1st & 2nd degree burns
  • Leg ulcers
  • Skin tears
  • Pressure ulcers
  • Surgical wounds
  • Diabetic foot ulcers
  • Lacerations & abrasions
  • Grafted wounds & donor sites
  • Partial & full thickness wounds

SilvaSorb Hydrogel Features:

  • Easy to Use: Easy to spread and won't melt into the wound.
  • Donates Moisture: Hydrogel helps hydrate dry wounds and maintain an optimally moist wound healing environment.
  • Reduces Bioburden/Contamination: Effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria and fungi, which reduces the risk of infections later on in the healing process.

One thing about this product is that it is a gel that doesn't like to be spread over the area that needs it.

Cons:
Messy.
Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:

I use this ointment for diabetic foot ulcers. It promotes healing and prevents infection when the ulcers are open and bleeding. Some of the ointment rubs off on the gauze dressing, and it needs to be reapplied every time the dressing is changed.

My husband has had a stage ulcer for over 5 years, he has been on numerous treatments with the VA and it has went from three tunnels with exposed bone and infection, 5 inches deep... to 1 narrow tunnel about 3" deep But it has remained this size for almost 9 months now... is there any thing you can recommend to help this close up from the inside?

Answer:
First you must get the pressure off for any healing to happen. so have someone help you figure out what is causing pressure that cuts off the circulation to the wound. It is not what you put in a pressure wound so much as diligence to get the circulation to return by getting the pressure off. Moist wound healing is the gold standard for healing. there are many products that assist in moisture balance for a wound. allegro carries many good products. The other thing of course is to make sure there is no infection and he has a good nutritional status to help build new tissue. Is he on medications that slow the healing process?Check out the AAWC web site along with the WOCN site and the NPUAP site for more information
