I am highly allergic to latex. Is the silicone coating on this catheter going to protect me from the latex? It is suprapubic, not urethal.

Unless you have a HUGE bladder you really only need to insert 10 ccs. of the fluid. My bladder would explode if I put all 30ccs. in! As long as the balloon, usually at 10-13ccs.stays in if you give it a little tug at about 10 cc. in your bladder, your bladder has sufficient fluid to keep the catheter intact for days. I'm an R.N., have been for 30 yrs. I know catheters. Try 10 - 13 ccs., give a tug, and I can just about guarantee it's stability. Good luck!

After inserting the catheter I always use an irrigation syringe with steril water to make sure it's passage is clear of lubricant and that the water is able to flow in and back out freely on its own, also to make sure the catheter isn't defective on its inside. As tated by the RN who answered before me, I only use 10 cc to inflate the balloon. I'm 32 years a Quadriplegic with catheter experience!
