Describe Yourself:
Caregiver.
I use this product for my 27 yr old Autistic daughter. She likes to fill cups with water and walk around with them, she doesn't pay attention and water spills all over. These cups help with the problem, we use them for juice in the morning as well. The only problem with the cups is that they don't hold more than 7oz of fluid to keep them spill proof. We need them to be bigger. 12oz or more would be great.

Tell me about the straw. She is in assisted living, so the staw may not get sanitized. Can a regular straw be used?

I would not recommend a regular size straw because they are smaller in size and the liquid will leak through the opening between the straw and opening for the straw. The straw given with this product is really the only straw that I found to work. Trust me, I looked for many other types of straws and they were either too larger or much too small. So I would just stay with the one that comes with the product. It's a good product though.

My wife recently had a stroke and we needed a cup that would not spill when dropped. We use the regular flex straw that you can purchase at any grocery store. The cup is designed not to spill if you don't fill the cup past the 1/2 way point which is the step in the cup. You can drop the cup when it's filled at this point without a straw and it will not spill.
