Q:
My mom has MS and is mostly paralyzed. She needs to be repositioned on a fairly consistent basis; are these sturdy enough to grab and move her around, or will they tear apart easily?

A:
They are nice pads, but they will tear if pulled with weight on them.

I would have to say nit depends on the weight of the person. My husband weighs 280 lbs and his tear. I invested in washable pads from Allegro and they are really sturdy. Hope this helps you.

These underpads are bad. They may be okay for pets, but the are almost useless for humans with disabilities. I am a paraplegic. I was looking for a high quality underpad that would stand up to some my movements and use, so I chose the most expensive underpad Allegro had. But these tear easily, and the padding deteriorates quickly.

We use a cloth pad under the plastic one for moving the patient, but it never gets wet, thanks to the disposable.

I use these for my husband who had a stroke. They are not strong enough to move the patient around. As another person said, you would need a sheet or blanket under it to move them around. They are definitely not strong enough to move anyone. These are disposable. You would need to buy the reusable pads that can be washed. They are made of strong cotton and those are capable of moving the patient.
I am also now using them as pee pee pads for my dog who is in the house all the time. They work great for that.
