Works great, smells terrible after use Verified Purchaser

Sturdy. Lightweight.
Bulky. Smells.

Describe Yourself:
Fair health.

Although the brace offers good support, it is hot and I get very sweaty wearing it. When I take it off, it has an extremely offensive smell, as does my hand. In addition, I had trouble regulating the hot water to soften the insert, and ended up melting the insert to the brace. Due to the odor, I would not recommend this product to a friend nor would I purchase another one.

One of my patients (I'm an Occupational Therapist) seems to have an allergic reaction (dermatitis?) to the splint she received from her ortho. I provided her with cotton stockinette today to wear under hoping this will eliminate the problem. She says she is allergic to rubber. Is there something in this product that could cause this? Also, regarding the smell, I wiped the inside of the splint with rubbing alcohol and that took care of the majority of the problem. One could also try spraying with Febreeze and allowing it to dry.
