Product Overview:

Skin-Prep Protective Barrier
4.25 oz Pump Spray

Skin-Prep is a liquid film-forming dressing that forms a protective film to help reduce friction during removal of tapes and films.

Skin-Prep can also be used to prepare skin attachment sites for drainage tubes, external catheters, surrounding ostomy sites and adhesive dressings. Helps tape and film adhesion.

The Skin Prep wipes are fast and easy to use, only one coat is required, so less product is used per application. Removes easily using skin cleanser or soap and water, so unsanitary residue isn’t left in or around the wound area.

The Skin Prep applies easily, even on awkward areas and moves naturally with patients’ skin and won’t crack or peel. Best of all, the Skin Prep wipes allow your skin to "breathe" so tapes and films adhere better. The wipes may increase intervals between dressing changes. The Protective Dressing helps to increase the adhesion of tapes and wafers. The Skin Prep also protects fragile skin and reduces adhesive removal trauma.

Features of Smith and Nephew Skin-Prep Protective Dressing:

  • Forms a protective interface
  • Increases the adhesion of tapes and wafers

Q:
Skin prep is an excellent product to keep tape secured to the skin and it allows easy tape removal without tearing even fragile skin, if used properly. I've searched all 988 items in this category and there are no other methods of application other that this spray. I've always purchased the prep pads or the sponge applicator bottle. Do you carry either of these products? As far as application, for optimal performance I've found that first the skin must be cleaned with soap and water then dried by air or gently patted dry. Avoid the use of alcohol to clean the skin around the wound. Apply the skin prep generously and let air dry. Apply a 2nd coat, again generously, and allow to air dry until it's tacky. Then apply the tape or bandage etc. At least it works the majority of the time. Not everything works 100% of the time. Thanks for the forum to share. I like your site and prices are very reasonable considering inflation, and quite informative.
