Q:
I am scheduled to have surgery next month and am thinking of purchasing this feminal female urinal to bring with me to the hospital. I will be going into LIJ-North Shore Hospital in New Hyde Park. Does this hospital use these female urinals on their patients? Should I purchase my own urinal?

A:
For surgeries that require bedrest, the doctor will order to use a urinal. If the patient is unable to lift self onto a high urinal, a fracture bedpan will be used. Female urinals are not used in the hospital typically.
