Is a 5/8 smaller then a 1/2?and whats a 28 G?

1/2 is equal to 4/8 so 5/8 is just a little longer, in fact, 1/8 of an inch longer.
28G (G = gauge) is the thickness of the needle, The higher the number the thinner then needle, opposite of what you might expect. Dogs and cats are usually given injections with 25G or 28G needles, but they are given sub-cutaneous (SQ) fluids or intervenous injections (IV) with thicker needles, ie, 22G, 20G or even 18G needles.
