The Passy-Muir is identical to the PMV 2000 except for its color. This valve is bright purple to facilitate staff awareness that the patient is using a PMV. It can be used in-line with mechanical ventilation in conjunction with non-disposable, flexible rubber tubing.

If do not have vocal chords this device will not restore voice. It works by redirecting exhaled air up past your trach thru your throat out your mouth, thus restoring your voice.
