AQUACEL® Ag Advantage dressings are antimicrobial primary dressings for use in chronic and acute wounds that are infected or at risk of infection with varying exudate levels
Incorporates two powerful technologies working together to help eliminate the key barriers to healing: exudate, infection and bioburden
Hydrofiber® Technology helps wound healing: Absorbs wound fluid and creates a soft gel, maintaining a moist wound environment and helps reduce pain associated with dressing changes
Locks in exudate and bacteria to help minimize the harmful effects of maceration and cross infection
Micro-contours to the wound bed, eliminating dead space where bacteria can grow
New Advantage Technology is more than just silver - a unique formulation that enhances the antimicrobial efficacy of ionic silver within the dressing
Sustained antimicrobial activity in dressing up to 7 days and prevents microbial reformation
AQUACEL® Ag Advantage Enhanced Hydrofiber Dressing with Silver
The AQUACEL Ag Advantagehas the same core technology as the former AQUACEL® Ag Extra with MORE THAN SILVER technology. The former dual-purpose antimicrobial dressing absorbs exudate with the power of ionic silver. The new AQUACEL® Ag Advantage has a unique formulation containing three components that work together synergistically to enhance the antimicrobial efficacy of ionic silver within the dressing1.
AQUACEL® Ag Advantage Enhanced Hydrofiber Dressing with Silver kills a broad spectrum of wound pathogens in the dressing that can cause infection - including MRSA and VRE. The AQUACEL Ag is a dressing indicated for partial-thickness burns, skin graft and donor sites, postoperative wounds, diabetic foot ulcers, leg ulcers, and pressure ulcers.

How long can the dressing stay on?

It depends on how much wound drainage you're experiencing. Aquacel AG, due to the antimicrobial properties, can stay in place for up to 7 days. It is actually most effective if it is in place for at least a couple of days. I had abdominal surgery and open abscesses that I had to treat, and initially I would change the dressing once daily (due to heavy wound draining), but after a week I could keep it in place for 2-3 days.
From personal experience, for wound packaging, I've found that cutting a piece of Aquacel AG, packaging it in the wound cavity, covering it with DuoDerm (to hold it in place and keep it clean and waterproof), then covering it with something like Mepilex Border has been the best treatment. With daily showers, I usually can keep it in place for 2-3 days, then change the dressing and clean the wound).
This stuff is remarkably effective and much better than packing gauze (regular or iodoform). Healing tends to be quicker, and Aquacel kind of "gels" when absorbing fluid so it has little to no pain when removing it from the wound bed (unlike gauze, which can sometimes stick and pull).

Questions:
How long can bandages with Silver or antibiotic ointments be stored. My sister's pressure Ulcer is almost healed, it was a stage 4. I was told once a stage 4, all ways a stage 4. The thing is insurance will stop paying for care once the wound is closed. It can take 2 or 3 weeks to get supplies so, I wanted to buy some so if it opened again I could treat it while I was waiting on the supplies.

The package I bought has a date on the back of 5/2018 so I assume it is the expiration date. Even if you have opened it and then reseal it, it should remain effective to use.
